That is not uncommon to happen on smaller boats. The bigger vessels have more transom freeboard and won't sink unless the crew is asleep.
That is def a bad fishing day...

I've heard of fish stories, but imagine the story..."I hooked a fish so big it sank my boat"

That actually should have been 100% avoidable. That was a sound off-shore boat on a calm day. The captain was an idiot. Fortunately, all walked away, but the Marlin will probably die when the rod gets hung up and acts as a trot line.

LOL, we have guys that successfully take big marlin from Kayaks here on big live baits, they would be laughing at that pic, yes poor form from the capt and crew, the pic almost looks photoshopped, but i can believe its true, if you take a hell of a lot of water in over the transom its possible, but it could have been easily avoided.

    Reported the D'bag too..

Heyyall you're right, the captain is an idiot for letting this happen. Backing down on a fish is one way to land a fish but I never did that in my center console boat, as I just had my anglers move to the bow and let the fish pull the boat. This is what I do on my skiff too and make for a faster way to land a fish.
