    That IS cool.

My 1st job had a lot to do with accessing computing resources via ARPANET on CP/M (all command line) computers...

If you have not read the book- Hackers: Heroes of the Computer Revolution by Stephen Levy, I highly recommend it.

Talks a lot about the early computing days, Apple, IBM PC's, M$ and many who gave away their creations to make stuff like BSD Unix (which OS X is based on), the tools that made Linux possible (Richard Stallman) and other little things like the spreadsheet (Dan Bricklin) a reality.

Had a Mac SE20 when they first came out in about 85/86. Cutting edge with 20mb HD and 4mb RAM and one 3.5" 1.44mb floppy port! After learning DOS, SuperCalc4, & Lotus on the IBM's in the university classroom, the campus bookstore was selling Macs and it was so much better than the IBM platform at the time. It cost me $2500 for the Mac SE and another $1100 for the Imagewriter LQ dot matrix printer. Then Mac went to sh!t a number of years later and had very little software support from all the new cool programs that were coming out. I hated to but I jumped ship after owning several Macs up to that point. Never went back and am pretty confident nowadays, with the way they run their ship, that I never will.

Funny to think how ridiculous a quad core, 1080 resolution smartphone on 4g lte would seem to the PC pioneers. Yes Woz, that is a 64gb card the size of a finger nail.
