    Light bulb passion

Does anyone else get this overwhelmed feeling when shopping for light bulbs?

I had to replace the bulb above our shower today. I, on a whim, brought the burnt bulb into Home Depot with me. Good grief, I started sweating over the choices. I even had an employee helping out. We searched and searched and finally found a replacement.

Why are there 4 million choices for bulbs

Because we're a spoiled rotten species that thinks they're so smart and can never have enough, and that will be our demise, but I'm glad you found your light bulb. Now no matter what time of day or night you can get a look at the only thing we are good at and should be making before you flush it, while simultaneously adding to the Earth's pollution and using natural resources for chit.
Hope you drove a really big suv to pick up that bulb, and good on you for supporting home depot with it's big ugly buildings and huge parking lot that could be at least 10 acres of natural land.

How many pot growers does it take to screw in a light bulb?
None, they use fluorescent bulbs instead.

How many recovering addicts does it take to screw in a light bulb?
One, but it takes twelve steps.

How many Jewish mothers does it take to screw in a light bulb?
None, they would rather sit in the dark and suffer.

How many journalists does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
Three. One to report it as an inspired government program to bring light to the people, one to report it as a diabolical government plot to deprive the poor of darkness, and one to win a pulitzer prize for reporting that Electric Company hired a lightbulb assassin to break the bulb in the first place.

Went to Home Depot the other day to get a small tube light for
under my kitchen cabinets. Got home, put it in and the light is a
different color than the other ones. Looks like crap, so I went back
and got some more so they all would match. What a bunch of BS,
and no they didn't have any like what was in there before.

Lighting is a big part of my work. Aquariums have to have light in order to keep the critters thriving. I apply a few types of fluorescent, metal halide, and now LEDs to them. Spectrum is of utmost importance depending on the environment one is trying to recreate.

For example, in a freshwater aquarium, the strongest color in the spectrum to penetrate the water is red. But if you applied a bulb with that spectrum to a saltwater aquarium, you'd have major algae growth issues.

In saltwater, red is all but filtered out and blue is the strongest spectrum.

Then you have wattage to consider which is a whole different chapter in aquarium lighting...

heyyall, different color temps & spectrums provide different mood settings. Yes, our moods are actually influenced by lighting.

I've got an idea ......animated light bulb above my head.

    Seriously though.
I used to work at Home Depot for many years. I never worked in the electrical / lightbulb area but I certainly got pulled in there by many a customer on many occasion. Guess what area I learned to avoid walking by in my little orange apron.

Ha,ha funny guy's. What was amazing to me was most customers expect you to know everything about everything in the store. We're talking, about a football field size store with everything imaginable. I got to see the lack of humanity that our society really has for one another. "what do
you mean you don't carry it" "what you don't know if you carry it" "what do mean you don't know where it is" "what do mean you have to call someone that works in that area" "what do you mean they don't make them like that anymore"

You name the scenario I've probably seen it. People are ruthless when they want what they want when they want it.

Fock thank's for bringing back those fond memories guy's.

But of course, I framed it behind glass and hung it above my fireplace. So now whenever I walk in the house and see it, my immediate thought's are of all those gentle nice customers. Did I mention how nice some were enough to actually bring back their "cut" live [now dead and brown] christmas tree a month "after" christmas. Yes dumb ass Home Depot gave them their money back. There are so some serious scum bags out there that find a glitch in every system and take advantage of it.

You have rep coming for this.

Lowes is just four blocks away for me. I could have rode a bike down yesterday to pick up some 2-stroke oil for my weed eater.
Instead I jumped in my hot rodded diesel p/u. I have a bad habit in that truck of using the accelerator pedal like a switch.

I was doing some plumbing returns, folks buying MAPP gas, do a job, then return the canister, when they used it to complete a job as "new" for the next sucker to buy. Saw several cops return a dead christmas tree right around New Years, wanting a full refund. Sad... My niece can tell you all about women wearing items to parties, including undergarments, shoes, etc, coming back to Nordstroms for full refunds with used clothing, and her working her ass off to make the sale, then the commission gets lost when the biatches come back in for a refund.

Makes me sick, the thieves that are out there. You buy it, it's yours, you make a mistake, tough sh*t, getting tired of subsidizing idiots with higher pricing to pay for other peoples mistakes. No accountability. I can remember when being a cop was a noble job.... not so much any more. More military mercenary types in the job slots now.
