I Hate Smart Phones, For The Simple Fact That…

I have my smart phone plugged in charging on my nightstand. I'm laying in bed trying to sleep but have insomnia. I don't have to get out of bed anymore to use the computer. I simply reach over pick up the cell phone and bam I'm on this site. Before I know it I glance at the clock and it's 4:00 a.m.
    Goodnight time to sleep.

I bought my first single speed frame this way! Woke up in the middle of the night, couldn't sleep, grabbed my phone and thought, I've always wanted a surly karate monkey. A few seconds later.....

It is for this reason we do not have our phones or a computer in our bedroom. You simply have to keep that kind of stuff out.

Be careful, you're inviting a break in. But ya, the phone stays out of the bedroom for me as well.

For the fact that everything is too easy to obtain, I refuse to own a smart phone. I know that I would simply forget about all of my obligations and use it to no end. Not good for me.

Is there a way you can deprioritize your obligations?

I wish. Believe me, I can see how having the world in the palm of your hand can be very useful. I can also see how easy it would be to abuse it.

My obligations include owner/operating a busy business single handedly, working a second job, and raising my daughter (with my wife, of course). I'm slammed. It's a wonder that I ever even get out to ride my bike, lol!

Shew, you are a busy man. As with anything in life it has its advantages and disadvantages. Running a business and having a 2nd job. That's insane. I may be getting a smartphone soon, but I have to make sure I do not abuse it.

I'm not complaining. I'm lucky to be where I am today. People all around me are suffering. Losing their jobs, their homes. The cost of living is so high here in Los Angeles that you just about have to kill yourself to stay afloat.

I bet the cost of living is insane there. I have a Master's degree and I can't get an interview, but things will turn around

Ambassador, I completely agree and understand your hesitancy in obtaining a smart phone. There is such a huge urge in abusing it. But it is nice if you can fight that urge. This site is with me 24/7 it's just my time management that keeps me from constant surfing.

I also hear you about the cost of living in So. Cal.My biggest surprise from San Diego to Colorado was the gas prices. A huge difference coming from the most expensive area of the country. I think San Diego gas prices are even higher than L.A.
