I used to be an over the top guy but now I prefer it come from under

my cats tend to unroll it when set to over the top, but they won't take the time to shred it all if it's set to under

same applies to my 4yr old

Hahaha I was just about to post this same thing. Over the top means I come home to a completely unraveled roll of TP. Under just means it might have a few claw marks in it. Same goes for the paper towel roll in the kitchen

I'd be curious if it rolls backwards for the people Down Under, you know, like the toilets flushing backwards.

I was raised in an under the bottom family. My wife told me when we got married that over the top is the only way to go. In an effort to be nice, I spent many stressful weeks training myself to over the top. Unfortunately, my insensitive wife never bothers to look at the roll when she puts it on. Would this be good evidence for an insanity plea?

    From the side.

I installed a nice holder for it next to the toilet, but if we leave the roll there and our basset hound gets board, he'll unroll it and chew it up. So in the interest of saving the trees, we just set the roll on top of the toilet.

It is sort of the luck of the draw with a new roll in our house. Just stick it on and see which way it unrolls.

I typically will side with the O-TP crowd. However, I have noticed that the height placement of the roll holder regardless of r/l side to be a factor that could influence the over or under decision. If the roll is high in relation to the bowl then under can work, if low then over all day. I think it matters if you can use the roll holder as an edge to aid in the one-handed side tear maneuver. Anybody else notice this?

Not really. Most times I only think about the placement of the roll is when I REALLY need it and no one has replaced the empty and I cant reach the replacement because it is in a cabinet across the room. I HATE THAT!

What keeps it from unraveling? I had a paper towel holder like that and it was always unraveled.

I take from the top roll only. The tissue end should stay relatively in place.

Over the top, duh. That aides with the one-handed side-tear maneuver as well, and I have my own bathroom, so I have the only say in orientation.

Seriously Brewtality, how stupid do you think us aussies are, what would be the point of a toilet that ejects the $hit back up out of the bowl? Our toilets just flush, down. It is you Americans that have the swirly thing going on and that is because your water levels are so much higher in the bowl than ours. I have been told this is the case because you blokes are so much more full of $hit than everybody else in the world.

Over the top for me, just like life.

Does the quad system add left and right facing rolls? And would those be vertical or horizontal, or maybe random?

Where is that drawing showing a cat that unrolls one but when trying to unroll the other it just spins? It was good

I have never actually realised that people had a preference in this matter... do you all go to the trouble of figuring out which way the paper unrolls then making sure it goes on the holder like that? Seems like far too much importance given to something you wipe sh*t off yer bum with!

You don't live with the opposite sex and share a bathroom, do you? Does it make a difference what position you leave the toilet seat in either?

I like my toilet paper to unroll over the top because it's clearly superior. I don't mind that some others like to unroll their's from underneath, it's a matter of personal preference and that's theirs. But what really burns me up is when they claim to be able to tear it off one handed. I don't care how much skill and finger dexterity someone has, there is no way that's even possible.
I'm enjoying my childhood way too much to ever give it up.

My wife doesn't give a poop either... neither did my ex-wife... The toilet seat stays down with the lid up so the cats can get purchase when they insist on drinking out of the bowl.
