I work for an e-tailer - we're fairly small, and yet VERY competitive in the US market.
One of my hats I wear is the shipping manager, I came up with this idea to do a box-making competition - as a team builder.
I brought it up that we were having it in a company meeting, and everyone was stoked! I was kind of shocked .

Anyways, video cameras were brought out, and my boss put this movie together - I think it's pretty cool

I used to work at a major tropical fish importer/exporter. This place was the mother of all. We'd get cargo shipment after cargo shipment of live stock in from all over the world. We wood either reox (reoxygenate) the bags and send them right back out, or we would store some of them in a back room filled with fish tanks to be shipped out on Sundays when we did our major trans ship for the week.

I used to pair up with the manager to do prep work for the upcoming weekly trans ship which included making boxes. We used to have to make 700 +/- boxes once a week. The boxes were roughly 36" X 24" X 24". Talk about abusing your hands?!!!! Cardboard sucks the moisture out of your hands like a sponge. We went through bottles of skin lotion (no, not for using on other body parts ) to keep our hands from cracking wide open and even then it would eventually happen. I'm talking deep cracks that oozed blood and burned like hell. In the several years I worked there, I'll bet I made 10's of thousands of boxes myself. Ah, those were the days...

On a side note, it was very interesting to get boxes of live stock from other countries. The writing on the boxes was hilarious at times with horribly misspelled attempts at writing our shipping address down. It's a wonder some of the stuff actually got to us. A bonus was the local news print they'd use to line the boxes. Trying to decipher some of the foreign languages was fun. Often, the news print would contain Page 3 girls, too.

    Good Stuff Thread

You realize that naked people are never who you want to see naked.

Hmmm. Good things.... I climbed a tree today to prune it. It was pure fun. I ate a pork chop with a side of mac and goat cheese and key lime pie for dinner. I'm happy (and sleepy).

Heee! This is a fantasy. Fantasies are generally perfect in our minds, however unrealistic they are.

I have to think that you've been to a naked commune after that comment. Looks like we are learning things here tonight.

Had a fun day with my youngest kiddo. Good lunch, saw a movie, laughed a lot. At 13, i gotta cherish the moments she is still willing to hang out with dad.

Gona go ride the big Laguna loop tomorrow bright and early.

I needed a great weekend after the way last week went down! So far so good! =)

That was one of the most inspiring and motivating videos I've ever seen. Probably second to only the music video for "Eye of the Tiger."

And today was a nice day. A setback at my summer volunteering place gave me some free time, so I used that time to nearly finish up the work that I'm doing at my grandma's house. So I spent the day hanging doors and cutting them for locksets and installing those locksets. It was a nice change of pace from the rest of the stuff that I've been doing this summer. And I'm nearly done repainting the interior of the house!
Sometimes, I question the value of my content.

Ahh yes the Big Laguna Loop one of my favorite trails in San Diego. A real gem of a trail have fun. As far as spending time with your 13 year old daughter, as you said get it while you can. I don't have kids but I'm close with my neices and nephews. Two of which are the, same age and all of a sudden they could care less about doing anything with an old fart.

However, I'll never go back to one. I walked into the bar and haven't heard the end to the jokes about a bear walking into a bar.

Life is a calculated risk, just like working with electricity. I used to do that for a living. I actually got little thrill out of getting zapped occasionally by 110. But 220, no-no!

I realize that weight and balance is of utmost importance but have you ever thought about strapping a tiny lizard onto the glider? It would have the most unbelievable stories to share with it's fellow rock dwellers after it's release.
