    Godzilla is roaring back!

I have to say that after that Matthew Broderick crap a decade or so back, I was done with Godzilla. Then I see this and realize that I'm still a fan.

    Gojira!!!!!

heyyall, you do realize that the Broderick film was supposed to be a semi-comedy, don't you? Some of my friends laughed all the way through it as they watched.

From the previews, this one looks like it will be similar. Gojira is just too big to be realistic. Nothing living could possibly be as big as a high rise building.

You mean Godzilla as a premise is flawed? Crap, next you are going to tell me superman and santa aren't real either

I'm not sure I laughed at all during the Broderick version. It'll probably be back on cable soon so maybe I'll give it another chance.

Shaking your head in disgust, and or face palming is as golden as laughing where movies like these are concerned.

I coulda sworn this movie came out earlier this year. They made huge robot suits to fight it. Something about a rim job on the west coast?

Would depend on where you saw the movie. Original King Kong vs. Godzilla had two endings The domestic Japanese version had Godzilla win. USA import version King Kong won.

    Funny.

I watched the trailer to Pacific Rim with my 8 year old. He looks at me after seeing the robots battle the "godzilla" creatures and says--why didn't they just build larger robots? Excellent question.

I think they should have built shrinking rays. Shrink down the monsters and squash them. Or transporters. Transport the monsters to the sun.
Takes less resources than building larger bots.

Good point. From what I've seen in other movies, a pile of fish is a way to lure a godzilla creature into a trap. Couple that technique with a quality shrink gun and we are in business.

It's release week. I haven't see a movie out in some time, so I might spend a few dollars to see this puppy. Reviews and new trailer seem to indicate this may actually be watchable.

I saw it last weekend and liked it. I liked the fact that it was more of a traditional Godzilla movie on like the one that was made a few years ago.

You have to be a Sunday Monster Movie Matinee addict to appreciate the small touches that payed homage to the vintange movies. If you hunt around Netflix you can find a few of them. Worth watching to give the set up for the new movie. All are just as believable......

Probably the best Netflix find is All Monsters Attack, where a Japanese boy (wearing the classic shorts/jacket/cap combo - homage paid in new movie) befriends Son of Godzilla to overcome his bulling. He learns to stand up to his tormentors by watching the big G kick the living snot out of all the famous monsters. It is comical because it is an actual anti-bulling PSA disguised as a Godzilla movie.

Not to give anything away for you but the fight scene reads like all of the other movies. They meet, they fight, G gets the upper hand but gets overwhelmed and apparently defeated, only to come roaring back and kick the MUTOs (Mutated Unidentified Terrestrial Objects) asses. If you were a fan of WWF in the days of Hulk Hogan, you know the story line.

It is fun. Get the giant tub of popcorn and candy, sit back, and let it take you away for a few hours. If you go and expect it to be realistic, you need to have your head examined. The kids and I had a blast!

I rarely go to the movies anymore, but a friend suggested we go, and so I went and saw it last Friday in 3D IMAX. I thought the 3-D was very well done, and the movie itself was entertaining. The right kind of movie to see in 3D at an IMAX theatre.

I finally saw the new Godzilla. It was OK. The effects were great of course. I liked the explaination about how these creatures predated the dinosaurs. But for movies with giant monsters in them I really liked Pacific Rim. That movie was better than I expected it to be.
