    Gimme some rep! (for them...)

Continuing on with a theme that was discussed in the Gimme some rep! thread (the purity of which should not be disturbed any further) the purpose of this thread is to recognize mtbr members who tend to post only in certain subforums, toiling away with mountains of solid advice, selfless deeds, or just a good dose of wisecracking. Many of these subforums tend to be self-referencing with little in the way of rep available from the regulars there.

Here's your chance to give a shout out to some of those members. It's only rep, but a bit of encouragement never hurt anyone and may just help them to keep doing what they're doing.

Post up here, telling us a little about these members (including their user name) and provide a link to one of their posts so that we can all have the opportunity to spread a little rep-cognition their way! Nothing says "I love you" better than waking up to the surprise of a bunch of new green chiclets.

"Andrwswitch" and "Berkeley Mike" come to mind. Sorry bout my lack of interwebz skills and skipping the links.
Andrew usually hangs in the beginners forum and just puts out solid info.
Mike seems to be a very cool guy with a great head on his shoulders.
Other members like AZ.MTNS and so many others just seem like cool people, who do what they can to prop up other cool members, bash trollers, and IMO are just good for comradery round here.

So true, and great that you brought this up. Seems like members can type away a full page to try and help out fellow mtbrs, humans, whatever, and get no thanx. Yet others who post up stupid sh@t that might be a little funny, or jump on a bash the troll bandwagon sometimes get all the props, which is cool, but it IMO it should swing the other way sometimes.

    It takes all types to make a community. mtbr is a pretty cool mix of helpful information along with stuff which is just letting it hang out a bit for fun. It's a nice break from reality. The value of the content here would be lessened if either was missing. Which brings us to;

    You've called it, so +rep now given out to each. Latest posts I found respectively were;

cleaning the chain?? - Mtbr Forums

    And

EBRPD Fremont meeting 9/29 10-11:30am - Mtbr Forums

Both trying to help people out yet again, just like you said (although these dudes seem to be doing OK with their chiclets already!)

    Here's a link for Tone's latest contribution.

    Gimme some rep! (for them...)

On a serious note though, this is an awesome thread. I still want to give a shout out to Chansen and Unglued. Kinda how this whole thing got started thanks to Circlip.

Why don't we start a simple "best of MTBR", which should not be confused with his brother "Best of MTBR WTF"?

We have things like the heat stroke or really inspirational threads such as the kid mtb's. Rep naturally flows to people in those threads. Maybe we could have a sticky even.

    THIS IS AN EXCELLENT IDEA!
    I have two thoughts:
    1. make sure they are solid contributors prior to mentioning them.
    2. I say we keep this to positive rep only, let the "best of mtbr wtf" be the place for coco crazies.

    One i can think of:
JFryauff = in the beer forum, can't miss him, contributes positively to every thread.
    Example: Labor Day Partigyle

Natehawk and AZ both deserve the rep they already have but might as well mention them, as they are everywhere! Berklymike and andrwswitch were the other two i was going to mention but they were mentioned above.

This is a somewhat random thread he started but please go back and check some of the many threads he started and shared in. I did not know him in life but I still enjoy his very rep worthy posts.

All great props above, but personally I would love to hear more about some of those members who don't already have a full slate of green chiclets, and whose contributions are going mostly unnoticed tucked away in subforums that don't get a lot of views.

Members with big rep numbers are already feelin' the love from their fellow posters. Just sayin'

If you come across anyone who fits that description, post up with a few words telling us about them (and a link to one of their recent posts so we can click on it to distribute some rep).

I do not want you to spend too much time sucking giant balls, so hopefully this helps things along with convenience links below (some of them actually posting to this thread) for recent posts from each in case anyone wants to hit up these folks with some rep, or check out their posting history for some previous gems. I'm happy to take this on good faith, as presented by posters in this thread, and give out whatever my rep shooter is loaded with. Seems like an interesting mix of the usual suspects (nothing wrong with that) along with some hidden treasures.

    Another very worthwhile.

Author of Topofusion software, epic bikepacking ride reports, and operator of a couple websites, Krein. He hasn't posted here in quite some time, but here's the last thread he started, a winter bikepacking ride report.

Riding on the North Rim... in the winter?

Another posthumous recommendation, Geoman. A prolific poster of help in the lights forum. Geoman's later posts were taken over by a company rep after he passed, but before that he was also very helpful in the GPS forum. Sadly, I never found out when he passed...I think I didn't find out until more than a year later. Here is the last thread started by Geoman. The company went belly-up because of this incredible customer service effort.

    GeoManGearís Battery is here

    This thread should be stickied.

I was going to say Highdelll didn't fit the requirements but Circlip did say "A good dose of wisecracking" in the OP.

I'm happy to take this on good faith, as presented by posters in this thread, and give out whatever my rep shooter is loaded with. Seems like an interesting mix of the usual suspects (nothing wrong with that) along with some hidden treasures.

Need some more chiclets on this one for sure!

    Sigh.... - Mtbr Forums
say what you want.. but building 50 miles of trails, and being humble about it - is something that deserves Chuck Norris approved props... and grinning right in the face of nasty disease to top it off...

my hat's off to Trail Ninja, among other deserving posters...

Chuky has two accounts here, she now is in the business and works for Niner Bikes, I believe, as well as her husband, JRM? Verify it first, I may have my information wrong.

Take your pick of anybody in the Trail Building and Advocacy forum. Even the paid professional builders who come on the forum and give all their "trade secrets" to the new builders.

Without the builders and the advocates........ we'd all be roadies.

    traildoc
    Ridnparadise
    Fattirewilly
    pinkrobe
... can all be found on this thread.
    Stashed Tools

    Skookum
    bsieb
Building stunts with forest lumber only

    Walt Dizzy
    Question on etiquette....

    zachi
    Megashnauzer
    cjohnson
    ebxtreme
    bweide

I nominate axisofoil for his knowledge of carbon fiber.
No, YOU don't understand. You're making an ass of yourself for all of eternity.
