So call up the bank to find out they did bill me for the item but for some reason my old military address was the active one that needed to be used. Take care of the card problem.

Again, I call back to correct the problem with the purchase with the company. Get through the whole order again and the card information is wrong again. So I'm like wtf. I tell the kid, he sounded like a kid on the phone; my MiL. address. He's like is that some halfway home address? Excuse me? No, that's a military address. Marine Corps. Oh, well I hate the military and they do nothing for this country. I keep my patience with this kid. Give him the needed information. Mind you the whole time he's huffing and puffing, not speaking clearly into the phone. Basically being a giant D-bag because I served this country. Okay, I get it but, don't be an a$$hole to me on the phone about it, since I am the customer who is keeping his mouth shut about your comments towards me. I complete the order so I thought.

Something in me told me to call back to make sure. This time the associate was nice and immediately saw the problem with my order.

Come to find out that mother fvcker typed up the wrong information. I shlt you not. 1234 Darwin lane. Phone number 123-456-7890. Order number 0987654321 <---- Actually typed this into the information box.

I get transferred to the supervisor because of this. Explain to him what happened. We fix the problem, free overnight shipping. Would have cost 29$ btw and hopefully I actually did convince him to drug test this mofo cause he did sound high as hell, not to mention being disrespectful to a service member but to a customer as well. Some people need to keep there own thoughts and opinions to themselves. Hopefully karma catches up to this punk and rears it's ugly head. /
You did the right thing... hopefully some kid learns a lesson the hard way as to the error of his ways. Don't ever fvck with a Marine, they can and will cut your head off and sh*t down your neck in the blink of an eye.

No guarantees with that disease. It could be not so bad. It could go away on it's own. It's all over the place.

Isn't that the truth, a Marines temper is about .00000001 sec fuze from going peaceful to a nice violent throat punch.

Hopefully, he does learn a lesson, hopefully it's something valuable in which a vet helps him and the only thing he can do is swallow his pride.

Granted, I'd rather be where I am now than be in the complete fog I was in throughout most of 2009, but that doesn't change how frustrating it is.

My attention to detail suffers the most. I tend to be pretty meticulous and I used to notice the little things pretty quickly. Now, it can take me a very long time to notice them. This is probably the biggest factor in things taking longer to do now. I have a pretty deep fear that it's going to result in some really tough going once I hit the job market shortly.

I was definitely humbled when I went in to the hospital feeling all sorry for myself. Compared to some of the crap that other patients had to go through, my treatment was a cake-walk. I walked out of there under my own steam every day and never puked once. And I came out cured! I was very lucky.

It's no wonder I don't get pissed off anymore. Cured of stage 4 carcinoma and I ride a mountain bike.

Cancer pisses me off too. It just took the life of a friend tonight. I didn't see her too often because of distance, but it's a very tight-knit community and it's hit all of us pretty hard. She battled for a couple of years before she was discharged from the hospital yesterday so she could say her farewells. It was a tumor behind her heart, and she was in one of the best hospitals in the country. They just couldn't win against it.
Sometimes, I question the value of my content.

I have a friend who's on a severe downward turn lately and I think this might be the time. She has had severe downturns before but this time the docs can't get her liver functioning right. Jaundice, ammonia in her blood, nasty. Stage 4 breast cancer for her. She has been living with it since before I met her 2 1/2 years ago. It is a miracle in itself

Yep. Funny how I started to feel unwell after the XC season finished and epic training sessions died off.
Decked out at work a few times over the last 2 weeks. First time was a really weird feeling. Felt kind of off, got up from desk to get some wind in my sails/get some fresh air, and bam. Felt like my heart was in my throat and everything just kinda blurred out till I was on the floor.

The times after that just really really sucked and is at the point now where if I feel a little strange, I get super anxious that I will hit the deck again - which seems to fuel the fire, so to speak.

Already been over diet and hydration levels, so next step is this heart holter thing. To be honest it sucks a lot to wear it (only been a few hours thus far) but I am at the point where I will do almost anything to be back to feeling 100% again.

Did sneak out a ride last weekend, but was only a quick one at 30% output just in case.

Nate, that's terrible. So sorry to hear. Knowing all of you that survived it and the occasional joke about it have a way of making it seem less threatening. Things like this bring the true gravity of cancer out. My thoughts are with her.

That, and I'm a recent survivor. I met a lot of amazing people in the hospital who were in similar circumstances as Nate's friend.

second opinion now says that there is no cancer lining the brain/spinal cord, but the tumor she had in her brain has grown. this improves the prognosis and suggests if they can get her other issues (ammonia in the blood and jaundice) under control that she may have months instead of days.

That is better news. There is a treatment that is called cyberknife whereby pinpoint radiation is applied to a tumor. My dad was scheduled for this but he became too weak for it. Perhaps it may not be too late for your friend...

Not until after Christmas. Being sick at this time of the year has become a massive PITA with everyone slackening off or closing up shop altogether.

I did end up with lovely welts from all the tape that was used to secure all the wires. Work up at 4am wanting to rip the bloody thing off my body. Managed to stick it out till 6am, when I had to be done with it.

Hopefully this will be the last set of tests that I need to go through to give the doctor an answer, as its at the point where I just want to know what it is.

Waking up every day knowing that at some peroid during the day I am going to feel like absolute shyte is really doing my head in.

Nate - sorry for your loss. Losing someone is never an easy burden to bear. Hope things get better.

As for me the only thing I'm upset with is the fact I sold the car early this year. Cabin fever sucks. I really want to go to the coast and a few other places.

The bike ride helped. Try to get out for another one tomorrow.

I am angry today, so need to post before I go nuts.

    1. Wife has to go in to have some cancer removed on Feb 4th. Just found out this week and looks to be simple but I guess you never know until the it is done.

    2. Things have been slow at work and I have to look for new work again for 4th time in 2 years and sold a parted out bike on Ebay to pay Jan mortgage. A bike that I loved and never wanted to sell. The crank that came on it sold and was delivered on X-mas eve and the DB that won the auction wants to return it. Well my ad clearly states that I do not accept returns and I do not have the money to return to him. And why should I (he won the auction and got what he won!), I cannot eat the shipping costs to him and I will not. Freakin hate this world.

Ugh. I can't figure out Inkscape for two days now and it's driving me mad. I wanted some flourishes/vines and through some tutorials have sort of figured it out. Stupid bezier tool. I get it but my mouse doesn't. I hate node editing as well.

Was hoping to design some flourishes/vines/leaves and then weld my last name between them. Then cut it out on vinyl and adhere it to a 12x12 tile. It's a silly girl thing but they look fantastic when done. A lot of TTF weren't designed for cutting and the fancier ones need editing.

I feel better now. At least my chain rings came in and my bike is ready to be picked up.

I'm a bit upset. My rear rim is out of true. I just found out that I don't have the spoke wrench to true it. Nor do I have any friends who have a spoke wrench. And I'm broke so I can't get a new one or have the LBS fix it. Off the bike for awhile.

That's really broke when you can't afford a spoke wrench. What size do you need. I'm going to bed. I'll get your reply in the morning. I'm sure I have one, I can UPS it.

I think it takes the standard size, or the one that gets used the most. Not sure how to measure it.

Ugh. Soon as Amazon.com finishes up my trade-ins I'm getting something better that costs half as much and the power won't fluctuate or die because of power cords that don't fit into the machine. Wrapping electrical tape around the cord hasn't helped either.

Hopefully the US distributer has some answers. I'd just send the POS thing back but it's been two years. Can't even sell it with power issues. Just mostly venting right now.

OK so if memory serves I can rant in this thread without fear of being flamed. My rant today is the high prices of bikes. Again. I'm working decent hours and I still can't afford a bike with hydraulic brakes and name brand suspension.

Are you setting any money aside? If so, save longer and buy something used or Bikes Direct when you get enough. Lock it inside your place.

Price of avid internal brake parts. By the time I rebuild both levers and calipers I could buy a whole new set.

While commuting, I have had a few random instances of vague things casually hollered out a window. Last night was the first time I wish I recorded my commutes, so I could call the cops, because someone tried to run me off my bike and hurt me.

It is a super bike - friendly route with bike lanes almost the entire way. I was chugging up the hill in the bike lane last night, after a full day of work, wearing work clothes and with reasonable lights, as always. An SUV passes me, and as it passes, someone leaned out the window and screamed directly in my ear as loud as they could. It stunned me, made my ears ring all night, and the intent seemed to be to startle me enough to crash or fall over. It was malicious, cruel, and unprovoked. I was in a pissy mood for a while afterwards.

What kind of ****ed up piece of shit does things to people just to hurt them for their personal amusement?? What the hell could go through someone's head to think hurting random people is funny, entertaining, or even remotely acceptable?? Does this make me old to be shaking a fist at the 'jackass' knockoff inspired generation? (Even though I am of the age to be in that generation...).

More than a camera, I wish I carried handy projectiles I could have ****ed up their car with. I was thinking the same thing when I was serving, saw a table leaving without paying, followed them out the door, where they ran into a waiting minivan and screached away 5 feet from me. Paying to fix a rock through the window would have shown how cheap the 60 dollar tab the whole table feasted on really was...

God help the first sorry SOB who I catch wronging me, cause they will get the full brunt of all the missed vengeance too...

I feel slightly better... would feel much better if I could have reached out and smashed that *******'s face into an oncoming lightpole...

Vaguely related, but a story you might enjoy. Years ago my father and i were driving north on hwy 101 (San Diego coastal route). A suv in front of us full of young men passed very close to a female bike rider. One of the passengers reached out and smacked her ass as their vehicle passed. She did not go down, but it was close.

A half mile down the down the road was a red light. We were front row to the bike rider smacking the guy in the face, HARD, with her bike pump multiple times. Idiot was leaning his arm out the open window completely unaware and presenting her a perfect target. I think she got three free shots off before he even began to react.

She took off as the kids began opening doors. Clean get away. We were not the only car honking and cheering for her.

    Rant:

Almost two weeks ago, I used my local drive in car wash. The kind where you pull in and park and the washer moves around your vehicle to clean it. I use it almost weekly. Well, this time the dammed thing malfunctioned. It got stuck in it's gearing and when it broke free, it slammed my front fender (leaving a good sized dent) and then moved rapidly toward the rear of my vehicle, tearing the side view mirror off. I immediately gunned it out of the facility, my vehicle still all soapy.

I ran into the store and told them that the machine had just broke and caused damage to my vehicle. They looked at the damage and took pictures. To my astonishment, they flagged the next car through and watched the cleaner work. It didn't malfunction.

I parked in their parking lot and they had me fill out their insurance claim form. They loaned me tools to remove my now flopping mirror that was hanging by the power cord. The broken mirror had also caused 3 small dents in my door where it impacted and a noticeable scratch in the window. They said that I should hear from their insurance company within a few days. They were apologetic and also offered me a free rewash. They have a surveillance video of the occurrence and they planned to review it. They would not share any info with me, however other than their first names, the owners first name and their business contact number. Hmmm, fishy.

I got home and contacted my insurance company. Started a claim through them just in case. If all else failed, I could use my ins company for repairs but I would have to pay a $500 comprehensive deductible.

Well, I haven't heard back from them yet. My insurance claims rep has tried to get info from them 3 times now and they will not cooperate. She told me that in a comprehensive claim, it's common for the other party not to cooperate. Lovely.

I'm going to go in there again next week and ask them why I haven't heard back from them. I'm also going to ask for some specific info. I expect that they will not cooperate.

If not, I will call my City officials and file a complaint. I will call the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint, and I will call 76 gasoline company and file a complaint. Then, I will gather estimates from my dealership and take the dirtbags to small claims court, probably a televised show so that the whole world can see what azzholes they really are.

None on the damage to my vehicle is serious. I already replaced the broken mirror so I'm rolling just fine now. Doesn't matter if it takes a while to get through this.
