Thanks AZ, I never watched Breaking bad for fear of getting sucked into it since I've heard it was so good. I just don't want to sit on my ass for anything (other than EB) for very long. I'm more of an on-the-go type of guy.

I'm a bit upset over Shimano XTR components. New (to me) bike comes with a XTR RD. I rebuild the shifter, change out the cables and housings, make sure the hangar is straight, clean and check the chain, look over the cassette, and the RD still does not shift well. At this point my friend's Shimano Acera setup is better than mine. Triggers suck. I want my GripShift!!

On a side note I find it strange no one wants to trade drivetrain parts...

Trigger shifters are just fine. You just need to set them up properly. Which is not hard. Google is your friend. Dont blame the gear. Blame the mechanic.

I'm no stranger to setting up triggers. These are just so old that they don't work like they should. AS I said, I want my GripShifters. And to be rid of that XTR RD.

OK - I messed up this time. I really dislike my new (to me) bike. I should have spent that money on something else and went without a bike.

OK, here goes. Don't say I didn't warn you. First of all the shifters it came with are so worn out I replaced them with GripShift as I like GripShift and it was cheaper that way. But these low end GripShifts suck. And they don't make any high end 8 seed GripShifters. The front fork is broke. The lowers bend out at an unnatural angel. The brakes suck. And at my weight the rear suspension is useless. And no matter what I do that read XTR changer does not shift well.

The worse part is I have it up for sale at $250 and NO ONE wants it or wants to trade.

    I screwed myself.

So you're saying that we are gonna have a grumpy Kona0197 for some time, take it or leave it?

    OK, nothing has changed then.

I had some young punk give me nasty gestures and faces on my way to work today. This kid looked no older than 17 and was driving what looked like his dad's diesel truck. It's not something that ruined my day, but I would have loved to rip that kid out of that truck and punch him in the mouth for being a sh*t. Diesels are big in my area and "rolling coal" and talking down about anything that isn't diesel is what the cool people do (I guess), and since I own a "gasser" I guess I'm targeted. But I wonder, how does owning (or in this case just driving) a diesel make you better than anyone else? Did my wimpy half-ton truck intimidate you? Or is your maturing rate slowed down from momma drinking and smoking too much while pregnant with you?

There's another high school kid in my area that delivers pizza in his diesel truck who also acts this way toward other people who drive non-diesel trucks. I've considered many times stopping in and asking him if he needs his tow mirrors folded out for all that pizza he hauls.

Why would you say that? I'm doing pretty well digging myself out of that hole. Yes, I've had help, and I'm grateful, but to say I won't? Whatever...

Glad to hear, really. But, you post some lament about your current bike not working for you, Post Junkie starts a thread (in jest, I believe) about sending you parts for a build like the Johnny Cash song "One Piece At A Time", and everyone is ready to ship you parts...incl me

I think the drama works for you. Keep working it.

You make it sound as if empathy, caring, understanding, and helping others is a bad thing. I didn't ask him to start that thread.

No, those are not bad things. I try, like most decent people, to do what I can.

To me, however, repeatedly playing on those attributes, is not so much good.

What do you mean by repeatedly? This was the first time someone started a thread like that for me. The only other instance of this happening was started by myself, and it was not my intent to get a free bike (that I really miss) out of the thread. Yes, I like to complain about my situation, but I know the chances of someone helping me are thin to none, so I tend not to ask.

Kona, to my memory, this is perhaps the third go-around I have read regarding your dissatisfaction with a bike or lack of a bike. The first was when I responded to your circumstances and set up the Rockhopper deal. The second was after it was stolen from your back patio (which sucked, btw). Now, you have a bike but it doesn't shift right, the rear suspension doesn't work for you, and no one wants to pay your inflated asking price. So, the folks here are helping you out once more. Again, wanting to help is not the problem.

Now, I am done talking in this circle.

While I do agree that you should post up with questions to fix your bike (maybe hold back on the complaining a bit), I don't think you should get rid of an XTR equipped bike just because you can't get it working properly. It's a solid bike that should fetch many more years of trouble-free use if the problems are fixed.

Yeah, I think a should hold back on the drama and complaining and be thankful I have a good bike. After all, there are people without a good bike out there. Thanks guys.
