Game of Thrones: I don't get it?

I honestly think it has to be one of the most boring shows going. I'd actually rather watch Downton Abbey than these.

The first 3 episodes have literally 5 minutes of action and 175 minutes of people riding horse, walking in mud and talking around tables. In three hours Harry potter defeated Voldemort in the Chamber of Secrets. In 3 hrs Luke Skywalker found out that Obi Wan was a Jedi and Darth Vader was his father. In three Hours some hobbits walked a good distance towards Mount Doom and had a lot of kick ass battles and such.

My wife keeps telling me to hang in it gets better and more exciting and have to say "when was it exciting before this point?" because aside from the first few minutes of the first episode it has been a smattering of random tits, and people gabbing.

Help me out: What's the appeal? Should I hang in? Will there be action? Dragons? Anything more than people talk, back stabbing or just being annoying little pricks?

I've never been interested longer than 3 minutes before I flip away from it.
    Basically it's N.M.B.B.

I have never seen it, but many of my coworkers talk about it. From them it sounds like the most epic show ever created!

This is what I thought too. Everyone raves about it but it held my interest about as long as that Housewives show with Teri Hatcher did. I am honestly forcing myself to watch it as my wife really wants me to watch it with her but it is like torture and the longer I go I just think about the hours that have wasted forcing myself to watch something I find boring.

is it maybe a chick show that is thinly veiled (boobs, lots of them) as a show that men should watch?

RC where have you been? I haven't seen you around these parts for decades.

This show sound's like it's having the same effect on you as it does me. Sometimes you just have to face it. N.Y.B.B. as it's N.M.B.B as well.

I agree Rockcrusher. It is one of the slowest building shows EVER! My girlfriend is nuts over this show and likes it when I watch with her. I seriously think its an OK show when there is real action, but it takes a whole season for things to happen. Otherwise, it's just a soft porno, full of incest and tits. That's really all I see in it.

I like it, but don't love it. I think you have to like to listen to folks talk and manipulate for power to really enjoy it.

HBO of all places! Big Shocker....

The show does get better the longer you watch it, I however go biking when its on because i'm not one for serious tv watching.

Having never seen the show, that was simply outstanding! True talent right there! Flawless, elegant, and soothing.. Is that what the show is like? lol..

Depends on your definition of flawless, elegant, and soothing. There is some gore as the series progresses (standard HBO style).

I'd hope there is something interesting to believe the draw.... I'd sleep right through flawless, elegant and soothing...

    here's the draw.

pick a character that cannot be killed off because it would totally ruin the plot.

    then kill them off.

pick another...then kill off....continue until brain explodes.

BTW - the dwarf is rad.

When the dwarf dies, the show is over for me. But I do like Littlefinger and the eunuch as well.

The offspring of incest is a douche. I'd gladly see his bloodline ended.

I do however sort of want a dragon now!!!

I agree it builds really slowly and can be pretty boring at times. But 5-10 things happen each season that will effing blow your mind. I wouldn't recommend starting in the middle, go to the beginning and see if you like it. I don't have hbo now, but if you do, your on demand may have all seasons?
