Rain, rain and more rain. Will be doomed to riding the trainer. At least I don't have to work in it.

    Friday wakeup call?

Credit Card company. With a list of fraudulent charges racked up overnight. Awesome.

Card is in my physical possession, so it was skimmed somewhere. But where...? I use that one rarely these days, but it seems to point to last place I used it, also only place it was used in the last two weeks. Brick and mortar retail chain. The terminal I used looked normal, but the overworked employee made a funny face at something her computer flashed when I swiped, but then shook it off. I think the systems were compromised. I am going down there today to return stuff anyways, so I will talk to the store manager. Unless the store manager was the one who installed the skimmer...

Sorry to hear. I just went through that, some ahole got my cc info and made a fake card to use at gas pumps. Made 2 $100 purchases up in the ghettos of LA before they caught it. I was impressed how quickly they caught it though, all because they noticed a purchase within 5 minutes of another 50 miles apart. I don't use my debit card for this reason, cc fraud coverage is easier to deal with since no cash is tied up. Scumbags I tell ya!

I was thinking about it further... wasn't there a big thing in the beginning of the year where a bunch of online bike shops got hit? Is it possible my credit card info was pulled from an old database where this happened? Or that another group just got hit but no one has realized it yet? It has been a while since I ordered anything with the card... can't even remember when or where, I would have to dig months back.

Oh, and the fraudulent purchase that tipped them off and was the first declined? A furniture store. In France. That happened after they tested the card with two small online 'donations' and then buying something in the midwest even though I live on the west coast. :| Thank gawd criminals are stupid!

It can happen anywhere.. Waiter at a restaurant can swipe it, gas pumps (most common), POS machine.. And now they don't even have to go back to the scene to get the info, they can get it remotely from the device they install. In the past they would often put a reader over the real card reader, now they can get into the gas dispensers and put in a device that intercepts the data. I used to work construction building/remodeling gas stations for my dad and the dispenser keys are universal by the type.

I check my cc statement daily. I like to use it for the points, I don't carry a balance. Only way to prevent cc fraud is to pay cash.

Haha, reminds me of something funny that happened at work a couple years ago...

I work at a high end resort that sees celebs and the ultra-rich. A ditzy waitress was handed one of those super exclusive Visa Black cards for payment. She was so thrilled to see one and hold one, she just HAD to get a picture of it... and post it on her facebook...

    /facepalm

I ALWAYS check outdoor terminals, and have paid inside when suspicious at gas pumps. But, to be honest, I didn't look at this one closely. Nothing looked unusual about it... and putting something in a terminal at the register does seem pretty brazen.

I get nervous carrying cash around, because I have so little to spare. One purse snatch would be a huge loss for me, and would hurt badly. I feel more secure, in a sense, using credit cards because I am not on the line if the number is stolen like it just was. I have been pretty brazen in the past using it online, but haven't been for a while. I really try to only use sites that have a paypal or Amazon payment option, or are just a large enough site that I know they encrypt the **** outta their stuff. The incidents are getting so common, I imagine the company won't even investigate since it was only a few hundred they are out, which is partially why I want to try to figure it out. I don't expect to hear from the credit card again concerning this.

I had it happen at a gas pump. They card company called me saying it was compromised. They only found out because I was purchasing something at the same time as the person 75 kms away. It was a pain in the arse.

Today was another ass buster at work but every day is like that when you're running the show.

Anyway, Friday turned out just fine in the end. I settled down with my girls this evening to watch Toy Story 3, a family favorite among us. Until we meet here again next Friday, I bid you all a good night.

To expand on your meaning, yes pay cash and DO NOT OWN A CREDIT CARD. You can get scanned by the guy standing next to you anywhere, any time if you have one in your possession and or your number/personal info/identity can be stolen out of what would seem like thin air these days.

I've had it happen at my gas station twice using their gas card/not a credit card. They notified my each time and sent out a new card, no questions asked. Turns out some of the gas stations around here are controlled by some big time criminal operations. I won't mention anything/anyone specific.

Guys, never, ever, ever use a credit card/check card/debit card at a gas pump. Never ever! Get the company's gas card and use that. ONLY THAT!!!!

    Or pay cash

While I agree credit cards are an evil thing for a lot of people, using one wisely can be a big benefit if you need to take out a loan or for anything that looks to a "credit score." I put that in parenthesis because that system is botched, but I play into it because I have had to. Most credit card ID theft stops with the transactions; the real ID theft can happen anywhere you SSN is laying around, including your doctors office.

Work on the day after thanksgiving is bogus. Happy Friday to those who have it off.

Black Friday is ridiculous. You couldn't give me things for free to stand in those lines.

    Same here!
Gordon I'm hard at work also. On call sitting in Starbucks playing on the web. Going on 4 hours with no work and I'm off in an hour and got paid for it.

Watching all the Black Friday shoppers coming in and out all stressed out.

    Whiskey gin and brandy
With a glass I'm pretty handy
I'm tryin' to walk a straight line
On sour mash and cheap wine
So join me for a drink boys
We gonna make a big noise
    So don't worry 'bout tomorrow
    Take it today
Forget about the cheque we'll get hell to pay

    Have a drink on me
Yeah have a drink on me
Yeah have a drink on me
    Have a drink on me

    I'm dizzy drunk and fightin
    On tequila white lightnin
    My glass is getting shorter
    On whiskey ice and water
So c'mon have a good time
And get blinded outta your mind
    So don't worry 'bout tomorrow
    Take it today
Forget about the cheque we'll get hell to pay

    Have a drink on me
Yeah have a drink on me
Yeah have a drink on me
    Have a drink on me
    Get stoned

    Have a drink on me
    Have a drink on me
    Have a drink on me
    C'mon

    Gonna roll around
    Gonna hit the ground
    Take another swing
    Have another drink
    Gonna drink you dry
    Gonna get me high
    C'mon all the boys
Make a noise have a drink on me
    Have a drink on me
    Have a drink on me
    Have a drink on me

    Have a drink on me
    Have a drink on me
    Have a drink
    On
    Me
