The "Fans of Lana in the O.C." thread

Lana Del Rey is not for everyone. There may end up being more haters than fans, but we'll see. I am a fan.

Here's one from her latest album. A great song that I think is ruined by a truly horrible guitar solo. And it's the guy from the Black Keys playing guitar, so WTF, why does it sound like a drunk dude at a party grabbed a guitar and started wailing. The guitar work throughout the song is OK, just don't like the solo.

    DJ, no, just a fan.

I like that she's "self-made" on YouTube. She made that video for her song "video games" (the one she sung on Letterman) and it went viral. She was just a small time lounge singer from New York. After 'video games' got her noticed, three short years later, and three albums and now she's on the cover of Rolling Stone and is selling out venues all over the world.

Live, in some bar in New York, before she "made it".

Whoa, that Pepsi song is something else! Oh my virgin ears.

I also like those other tunes posted in the So2 thread. I can't get a good read on who her fan base is. I wonder who shows up at a Lana concert?

Here's one of the slickly produced ones, though.

Blue Jeans.....this is the song she is famous for botching up pretty well on SNL.

I could do this all day ......"Burning Desire"

She is definitely a "throw-back to older times" kind of singer.

Yeah. She had to be sent to reform school at about 16 years old to try to help her out with alcoholism.

I think the SNL thing was just nerves, though. At that point, she hadn't done to many "big" shows yet.

I think she killed it on Letterman, doing Video Games, though. Just her and a piano and some strings, and she pulled it off flawlessly.

I'll have to hear more of her music to be a fair judge because I kind of like what she's doing, especially where it comes to manipulating her image and the public. However, forget that self-made internet sensation b.s. She is the child of millionaires and her father financed her career and that internet stuff was carefully calculated. People like her don't get "discovered" on the internet. They use the internet to get noticed, often under the direction of agents/management, and she had tons of backing to do it. She's a spoiled little rich girl with connections. That said, I kind of like how she's gone from being a laughing stock to being taken seriously. That's very hard to do in these times.
You're so cute internet tough guy. Noogie...Noogie...Noogie.

Whatever her deal, she certainly has the voice of an angel.

    That just can't be bought.
