Does my PC have the clap?

I just noticed a folder named install_clap on my Windows 8 PC in C:\Windows The name makes me think something's given the thing a dose of VD, but Norton's found nothing. Web search on the file name have been inconclusive so far. Do any of you IT guys (I know you're out there) know if I should take any actions to get rid of, like a shot of penicillin right in the old e-junk?

Sounds like you've been surfing e-porn...

Unprotected e-sex can lead to such infections. Boot up next time.

    Yeah it does doesn't it?

Sadly, this place is about as illicit as it gets for me.

Looking again, it's in C:\program files, not c:\windows, and it's got a date on it before I bought this PC so either it came on it, or it is wise enough to spoof the oldest install date to try to look innocent.

I looked inside the folder and found a log that IDs it as belonging it to "CyberLink Media Suite", and there is a bunch of cyber link crap on the Apps menu. Maybe clap means cyber link applications or something. Definite bad choice of names if it's an innocuous program that came on the box.

OTOH, since I haven't been surfing pr0n, it's a relief to know my PC didn't bring anything home from cheating on me.

That was a relief Bob as I read though this thread I was getting more and more concerned. I was afraid your next thread was going to be a help me find a place to live thread. After the wife found out about your internet travels.
