    Chocolate Milk

Why do people drink Chocolate Milk after a ride... other than it's so tasty?

Protein/carb ratio for post workout recovery. Most of us ride for fun. But it's still a workout and personally I like to treat it as such and usually try to do some sort of post workout nutrition whether chocolate milk, protein shake, or just a meal. But something.

I loved milk and as a kid and I loved chocolate milk. As an adult I still drink quite a bit of regular milk but chocolate milk I stay away from. It gives me a stomach ache for some reason. I still like the taste of it but I can't stop at a sip or two.

I just started drinking chocolate milk this year to recover based on someone's recommendation because I hate the taste of protein shakes. So far I am not seeing any difference other not having to put up with that godawful taste of protein powders.

I drink regular milk with unsweetened, unflavoured protein powder, and a tablespoon of maple syrup.
I got some bad ideas in my head.

I'm afraid of milk. We are the only animal that essentially sucks the tits of other mammals as adults. But I love cheese, so I guess I'm a hypocrite.

We are also the only animal that intentionally ferments grains to make a beverage. Are you suggesting everyone stops that?

As others have stated, it's an excellent post workout drink, specifically low fat chocolate milk. Contains lots of protein, BCAAs, and other stuff you muscles and body need.

Chocolate milk is the only milk I drink. I never liked plain milk. I use chocolate protein powder in milk to for after the ride.

Milk has a great protein that digests quickly and therefore is great for your muscles to recover and build. The sugar in chocolate milk gives you energy and restores the carbs you used up. I love it right after a ride because I'm usually starving and I don't have to wait til I can get somewhere and eat.

Rennet comes from the lining the cows stomach to ferment cheese, so there's that.

And what about the black cows, licorice milk? That sounds disgusting.
