    Boat Dog

Lexi went for her first lake trip on Thursday. She really enjoyed it!

She really liked to sun herself on the bow and when it turned cold, my GF surprised her (and me) with a been there done that t-shirt. I never realized how cold blooded the Dachshund breed is. She gets the sunning desires from the Chihuahua side.

She's turning out to be a great dog that loves to travel with us no matter where we go. Her favorite command is 'get in the truck'. Too bad it's getting too hot to take her on short trips to the store etc.. where she would wait in the truck while I ran errands.

She was a rescue. She had Parvo and her owners could not afford the treatment and were going to put her down. I took her in and got her the treatment she needed. She survived it and is healthy and happy.

Lake Powell. My boat is stored there.

I avoid Lake Pleasant like the plague. Nothing but drunks and cops.

We were on the lake for 5 days and even though it was a holiday we pretty much had the lake to ourselves north of Padre Bay. Might have been the weather? I don't mind the occasional rain storm as long as they are short in duration. i though the weather was perfect. When a drizzle moved through we just went below and watched a movie.

Here is a pic coming out of Last Chance on Sat around 10am heading up lake further. We had the place to ourselves.

Yep with 2500 miles of coastline and endless canyons to get lost in, you can always find a secluded area.

Reflection Canyon.. One of my favorites!

At this water level there is a nice beach at the very end. I would not use it with any rain in the forecast due to the risk of flash floods.

I envy you having a boat stored there. It really is one of my favorite places I've been.

I've had this boat on Powell for 6 years now (been boating on Powell since 1971). We have averaged about 45 days a year on the lake.

It's a tough decision but I will be putting the boat on the market after our next trip in 2 weeks.

Time to move on and use the time and funds to travel more and maybe get a motor home.

I'm sure another boat on Powell will be in the future, this is the 3rd one. I just can't stay away from the lake for very long.

Yes I can see the draw. I'm sure Hawg and B&F would drool over the fish I've seen there. Riding a standup jet ski along the cliffs, just 2' from the walls, the cliffs went straight down 50' to 100' or more. Crystal clear water and 2' to 3' long Striper Bass would be basking at the surface next to the walls, as I snuck up on them. Lizards clinging to the walls, it's quite a nature experience out there. And with a stand up jet ski you can get in where boats or sit down jet skis can't get to. There was a canyon we found that had a rock ledge sticking up about a foot above the water. No boat or sit down could get through. We would simply bunny hop the ledge and we were in. Awesome times!

We also found under water caves that we could lay down on the stand up skis and motor in until we couldn't go any further.

Stripers get huge out there. And I've came up on some big ens.

One of my favorite spots for lunch when the water is down. Nice and cool out of the sun.

That looks like one of the caves we explored. Not too far away there was a, maybe 200' cliff that these kids were jumping off. I couldn't believe how far up they were. So far up they looked like ants, crazy!

They have made cliff jumping above 15' illegal. Too many injuries and deaths.

Besides, BASE is where it's at

Sad day. I started the process for getting her sold today.

I'll get serious after the trip next week, have friends coming up that have never been on the lake so plan to show them around for a couple days.

Nice boat, Phillbo. It was a sad day 6 years ago when I sold my SeaRay, still miss having a boat.

I'm not surprised that you would have mixed feelings about this. You've had a lot of great times on the water. However it sounds like your new endeavors are going to be equally good.
