The Beat a Dead Horse Thread

GOB brought to our attention that the OC doesn't have a dead horse thread yet. Shy of animal cruelty, here's your chance to throw any dead horse metaphor or funny meme or actual horse into the mix. GOB really wants to add this to the OC list of animal threads, which she claims we don't have nearly enough of. Those who participate could win this award:

Well in that case and if it's that official it should go in this thread.

Beating a dead horse? That's what I call it when I have to coax myself into a state of arousal.

If you're still beating that horse after four hours, call your doctor.

No, no, you're thinking of the plot to one of those teenage vampire movies. The one where the vampire and the werewolf totally hook up. Yeah, I know. I totally couldn't believe it either, but then the vampire was like all oh and ah, and then the werewolf dude was all like I'm so on it. It pretty much ruled.

Beating a dead horse would seem rather tame in comparison.

Wow Korn such a bad attitude towards me lately. If you paid attention back then I opened the Obsession thread directed at the Word Association thread. I had nothing to do with either one getting closed. In fact I didn't participate in either thread more than several posts. Both threads went on for years before they were closed.

I'm just here for the entertainment.

I like to bump an old thread once in awhile just for old time memories and entertainment sake. I just randomly pick one without reading it. I didn't realize this one sparked such hatred. After choosing this one I scrolled to the bottom and noticed an old unanswered question directed at me. Is there a time limit deadline on when a question has to be answered?

You absolutely hated those threads and yet you posted in them quite often, depending on your mood I presume. The reason you didn't like seeing those threads bumped is the same reason you get flack for bumping these types of old threads. I'm sorry for suggesting you being responsible for getting those word threads locked. I'm just trying to get you to see things from another point of view.

If you Google "bumping old threads" you'll get a bunch of forum discussions on the subject. I think the consensus is that it's ok to bump if you've got new relevant material to add. Not ok to just bump for the sake of bumping, which is what we have here.

You are so wrong. The Word Association thread has a total of maybe 8 posts of mine. The Obsession thread I only participated in the first 2 pages. I then deserted it. That thread went on to being the most replied to thread with the most pages in mtbr history. When it reached some 700 pages or so I tried to open it and failed miserably due to lack of computer power.

I often referred to those two thread in other threads but I was never a participant past a handful of posts in either one.

And I had nothing to do with them getting sent packing. That took place during the Great Purge of 2012. Go to those threads and click on where it shows how many posts each member posted in the thread and you'll be surprised to see my total in each thread is 10 posts or below.

This has nothing to do with your participation in those threads.

The feelings you had about the original word thread that made you start the obsession thread, and the feelings I have when I see an old thread such as this one bumped are the same.

    Just sayin.

In your eyes maybe. I see it as a 180 degree difference. I bump a random thread in the OC on occasion. This is to keep things interesting and humorous. Some new blood get to see an old topic and add their 2 cents. Long time members get to laugh and reminisce of past laughter. Maybe add their 2 cents to keep things interesting in here. Besides OC topics are never done because most are from every day situations. A bike topic in the General Discussion forum has been beaten to death after 23 threads prior on the same topic.

The old Word Association thread was being bumped by it's creator every time it slipped half way down the front page of the General forum. That was going on for 9 years, yes 9 years before I intervened by opening the Obsession thread. Which the old timers know was in making fun of that situation. That thread immediately took on a life of its own and turned into a word thread as a joke. Which I found to be complementary and hilarious. So really both situations are different.

The OC is a laid back non uptight place. To get uptight over a thread bump is to flip off the very heart and being of what it is.

Look what I found. A world record and all I did was launch it. Of course this was back when humor was at the forfont of this forum.

    M.T.B.R. World Record......

    1) How is bumping a thread about beating a dead horse keeping things interesting and humorous? And how would this thread be interesting to "new blood"? I can see bumping threads like the face behind an avatar thread that may have been forgotten, but this one is pretty useless as far as content goes.

    2) I don't recall your reason for starting the Obsession thread as "making fun of that situation". That must be an alternative history. There's no way to be sure now since it's been deleted, and this may be just my view, but it's what I remember. Looks like your word thread got deleted in the later part of 2013, and the original kept going for another year or so. I remember what happened in those threads pretty clearly since they were the some of the first ones I became active in. I remember being bummed when they did get locked. And this all took place after the 2012 purge.

    3) This is what happens when you dig old sh!t up!

I really don't have time to explain again. Maybe later, ahh fock it I'll do it again.

The Obsession thread was lauched complaining about the obsession the OP had of bumping mtbr word association thread for 9 freaking years almost daily. It took 9 years until I stepped in and started that Obsession thread. Everyone laughed and turned the Obsession thread into a word thread right from the get go. Ironic? No on purpose to stick it in my face as humor. I laughed as it continued on without me. The rest is history, both of those threads went on for another year and then were both shut down for reasons I have no clue.

As far as me bumping this thread to keep things interesting. Scroll up to my explanation of that. When I go to bump an old thread I don't go dig through looking and reading each thread for the most interesting one. I simply [as stated further up this thread] pick a thread randomly and bump it. I'm sorry if I bumped one that irritated you. Maybe the next one will be more interesting and spark more of a care free humorous attitude.

Trust me, had I known this thread would spark an uprising with anyone I would have gone to bed earlier last night and put my bump finger to rest for another day.

If your cock has chicken scratch there's more to worry about than the sound it's making.

No, but I find it sad that it has been phased out in teaching the kiddies it.

Could someone please explain this saying to me. Where and what and where and what is it from. And what does it mean. I've been seeing it recently way too often not to question it's birth place.

I seriously think I have the worst handwriting in the world. It's not just bad, it's inconsistent. You can have bad handwriting but it always looks the same bad. Mine is all over the place. I can't be bothered to write nicely. In other areas of my life I'm relatively clean, not sure why it's only writing. I can provide a sample if you like.

I have a hybrid of half-cursive, half print. I can't read what I wrote, usually, much less someone else trying to decipher it.

Actually yes. Ever since I broke my right wrist badly. It was considered a Colles Fracture, but even my Dr admitted it shattered about 30% of my radius.
I guess they call it a "broken wrist" any time it's broken into the joint.

That's pretty much exactly my hybrid form of cursive and print combined. I have a bad habit of using capitals throughout [where capitals don't belong] my printing as well.
