^ Interesting POV camera angle. ^

Recorded wipe outs are the bomb! Thanks for posting yours. I wish I would have had my camera mounted and recording when I went off the trail and tumbled 150 feet down a super steep mountain side last November. That woulda been epic to watch.

Dam...glad yer OK after that. I average 1 wreck about every 1.3 hours of riding...some worse than others.

Just got back on the bike after being off all summer with a broken clavicle.

Guess I need to buy a camera.

Wait, no, I haven't been on my MTB in like 2 years, and rail trail rides just aren't that exciting terrain-wise unless you're interested in crop tours.... Though I have had several almost "run-ins" with the local wildlife this summer.

However it is neat to see the varied terrains people are riding. Some I wouldn't hesitate to fly through on my cross bike and others I'd be all freaked out even on a full suspenion tank.

This thread has ALMOST made me want to buy a new MTB next spring.

So I need a new front der. Not sure how it happened, but the cage on mine broke. Could have happened anytime between my first half-drunk night ride a couple of weeks ago, til I was loading the bike to go on last weekend's sh!tfaced night ride. It still shifts, but its sloppy, and even though I spend most of my time in the middle ring it clatters when i go high or low on the rear. Im thinkin SLX should do me fine, just need to start price shopping.

Not my mtb, but one of my around-town bikes. MTB would be pointless, as nobody would see it on my daytime trail rides. I'd also be concerned about the wiring for the lights getting caught on branches.

I just bought another solar and rechargeable battery powered set of multi-colored LEDs, plus a 4-AA battery powered set of color changing iced balls (), so now I'm all ready for the annual NightBright BikeParade in December.

I already have a set of deep blue solar/battery lights running around the top of the rear basket on one of my around-town trikes. People love those lights, and they were only $9.99 at Target a couple days before Christmas last year.

I also have my non-traditional bike flasher colors that I put in some formerly green or white lights recently-pink, purple, turquoise, and blue.

That would be me! I almost always suck on the leaderboards for climbs, but I do much better on steep descents (must be the MTB part of me ). I'm only 150 lbs, but that's 20-30 pounds more than I should weigh at 5' 4".

I have two QOMs on steep, rough, windy road descents. The only climbing QOMs I have are on roads and trails that very few women have ridden.

i tried to tell them i dont drink whiskey for a reason...but they didnt listen and insisted. some things can never be unseen.

You've got a climber's build . If you're healthy and you're not losing muscle, I wouldn't change a thing. You're probably pretty good on the uphills.

Is that your polite way of calling me a skinny ass ?

Nah i really have to put some weight, i'm currently @62kg ( ~137lbs for you yanks ) for 172cm ( ~5'8'' ), so not much meat in these bones ! My current goal ( for 2013 that is ) is to build up at least 15lbs more, muscle of course and no body fat.

hawg- i did not replace the front der yet. it still works, but lets just say its not reliable enough to race with, or go on an epic ride with. now, that said- i got a really freakin sweet deal from the lbs on the light i demoed from them last weekend on the drunkfest ride...so sweet of a deal, that i bought a new XT front der from them tonight as well. Basically, I got the front der for 20 bucks, after the fat discount i got on the light. havent installed it yet but i think im gonna do that after I have some dinner.

the light is pretty kickass, although i really would like a lot more than 650 lumens. I've used it on the bars, and on the helmet, and honestly I want one on each. My eyes aint the greatest as it is, and at night I have some depth perception issues, so the extra light would really be a big help- especially while im getting a feel for the night riding thing.

The derailleur, well... like I said I got such a sweet deal on the package, I couldnt turn it down. I wanted to just get an SLX, but they would have had to order it, and then I wouldnt have gotten the deal I did.

And I actually had a really good ride, being sober and all no major issues, aside from my rear tire burping on me yet again. better than the front tire anyhow since THAT caused a painful otb. dunno wtf is up with my tires and wheels combo but for both of them being true UST (Mavic 819s with Maxxis Ignitors), i am having no end of bead popping issues. literally every single time ive ridden them since going tubeless, one or the other tire will pop a bead and burp or go completely flat on me no matter how high or low the pressure is. i had 35 in the rear and 38 in the front tonight- yeah i know its a ton of air, and yeah it rode hard as hell, but i am trying desperately to find a pressure range that will actually keep the fvckin tire seated and not blow off.

Sweet deal BT. I would post those pics of my tires ambassadorhawg but they aren't installed. Also my LBS has a sale on a Tarmac Elite Mid-Compact 2012 for 1700 out the door. Just can't get over the ghey color scheme and how many times it says Specialized on it. Which totals eight.

Nice light big t. I find my 600 NiteRider adequate for most rides, but always thought a helmet light would be a nice supplement. I have also a MiNewt cordless, very similar in weight and size to your 650, and I find it a bit too heavy for my liking for a helmet light. My new Ayups are extremely light and helmet friendly, but I find that the spot really washes out trail detail. When I get my NR back from being repaired, I may go back to that for my bars and try my flood Ayup on my helmet.

Thanks man. It's a really good light and a lot of people used it solo the past 2 weekends, but I am thinking another one of those would do me a solid.

As far as derailleurs go, this...

    Became this...

Had to do almost no limit adjustment to get it dialed. Not really a fan of the dual-pull setup, since I have a top pull setup and for it to work with the 771 derailleur, my cable is swung out to the side. I'm sure it'll be fine, just gonna take some getting used to.

For the record, and im sure this is no secret- a Leatherman sucks the fat veiny one for cutting cable.

Sent from somewhere not sitting on my ass in front of the computer.

man, they are super light (compared to the stock boat anchor I had) and really stiff, plus they shift so much smoother too. no question it was a major performance increase. im glad i took your recommendation

now i just gotta get off my ass and put the bash i was gifted, on it. i just cant for the life of me find the time to actually do it. shoulda done it when i did the front der tonight, but i didnt have the energy to pull the crank off.

I started running them in the 20s but I could feel the sidewalls flexing so bad it was nervewracking...then the rear blew on me and thats when I jumped back into the 30s. been going up a few pounds at a time and still no luck keeping the bead seated. these are the only tires i have run tubeless on these wheels; the guy i got the wheels from is an inch taller and about 30 pounds heavier than me, and he ran nevegals without issue (according to him.) my nevegals aren't UST though, and i dont wanna get rim strips just for the experiment.

hahahaha oh man i know all about that ocd demon...yeah im sure itll come off tomorrow pre-ride, but i aint going out and yanking it off now. i honestly forgot about it, couldnt see it in the dark once i got done putzing around. and it was annoying the sh!t out of me as i was riding around up and down the street, running through all the gears. sounded like a very muted playing card in the spokes, and at the time it was pissing me off so bad i wished i had light and my pliers to grab it right there on the street.

OOOOOOORRRRRRR.... I could leave it and see how long it lasts- til someone elses ocd goes batsh!t and they pull it off, or til it just wears itself off in the dirt
