BTW, I've got little Stan's Goblins bouncing around inside my tires!!!!
It will need some editing but I got it on tape. It was yet another experiment of camera placement.

i should have kept my last stan's goblin. i figure could have sold it on the street to a 14 year old to smoke, or left it on a coworker's chair.

My basement stinks like a refinery of RockShox suspension oil. Bleeding of the Reverb bled me of many years of my life.

Dude, is it really that hard to bleed? Serious question.

I've never dealt with a reverb, but I've read a million times how easy they are to bleed.

Bill, yes, some are mechanical. The original, the Gravity Dropper, is all mechanical, stupid simple. Works for years with no maintenance what-so-ever.

    Just butt ugly.

The Specialized is a mechanical lock out with an air spring. Almost as reliable as Gravity Dropper, and looks not too bad.

AMP was all mechanical, not sure if they are still around or not.

Never had issues with bleeding brakes but I only have experience with gravity bleeding of Shimano hydros. Operating two syringes that get stuck all the time and that suck in extra air through hose joints and dealing with the lack of bleeding nipples just made it a misery for me. I guess I am just an uber clumsy creature.

Yeah, the two syringe system is kinda bulky. I've got Avid brakes, so I'm used to it by now.

Come to think of it, I do recall folks *****ing about the bleed kit that comes with a reverb. Seems they used the bleed kit for brakes and that made it much better.

My kids were watching a cartoon awhile back and it had the sound of a record scratch. I asked them about it and they understood that sound accompanied a "sudden stop". They had no idea (and probably never will) of the origin.

Now, every time I hear the record-scratch sound effect I think it's funny...

Everything is just a little bit harder for Sti to do.

    Examples:
    *mountain biking- crashes often
*mountain bike component fuilds-makes a big mess

    Poor Sti!

i DO use it! not terribly often, but i have used it on a couple steep spots that i probably would have walked had i not had it. however, (and i think i sent you a message about this) i dropped down something steep, and when my ass hit the saddle, i heard a huge cracking noise. i assumed it was my saddle because it's old and needs to be replaced. when i rolled up to my crew, i told them what happened. my bf (who has ridden my bike before) says he's almost positive it was the dropper that made that noise, because something similar happened to him. Since then, i've heard some funny creaks, but the thing still works fine. i have a hard time believing i "fat-guyed" my dropper already.

I use my dropper nearly as much as I shift, it's set up as a replacement to my front derailleurs bar position. A natural fit and I will never ride without again, too limiting otherwise. Our terrain is constant short ups and steap downs with lots of obstacles (logs, rocks, large roots, hobo's apparently), and I'm a little monkey on my bike.

Yup. Sometimes there isn't a new term to adequately take the place of the old one. Like, if I don't "dial" a phone number, and then "hang up" at the end of the call, what do I do?

Ya, my kids are older than yours, and I doubt they have ever seen a record player in use, unless you count Toy Story 2.

When my oldest daughter (14) was 5 I showed her an LP I got out of a box in the garage, and asked her what she thought it was. She said it looked like a giant black CD

The camera was off center, on the side of the headtube. It might have been looking a few degrees to the left but not much. Nice crash, too. I think I lost control of both wheels on roots under leaves at the same time.
