It's a SRAM 990 cassette. I had posted a larger version on the instagram passion site. When I looked at it, I thought it was cool and made it an avatar. I've been thinking about taking some other random shots and using them, but alas, I don't seem to have that much energy. Here's the larger shot that makes it clear what it is.

Are you running 175 cranks? Yours don't look as close to the ground as mine.

    BTW: love the bike

Hutch, I like the blue/black demon color scheme. Perhaps you should consider doing that to your avatar to spruce it up a bit?

Most of you guys seem like XC racer types.

Is it wrong that I pedal around on a 38 pound freeride bike with a dropper post?

I feel like the odd man out.

Well, as much as I hate it, I do have to pedal up to get up the mountain. And on most trails here, there's up sections and down sections, back and forth.

It's nice to just hit the remote and bam, the seat is up there like a XC rig.

Yeah Heyyall ruined it for us. Booo. If I had the chunk I wouldn't mind a 38 pound beast. My goal is to own one road, AM/Trail, DH/fr and SS rigid. All ready have the XC bike and hopefully soon road and SS. That way I can change things up.

Here's pics of the last 4 mountain bikes I've owned, starting from the oldest to the current.

2004 Spesh SJ FSR, custom build. 25.65lbs.
2009 Spesh Epic Comp, custom build, 23.30lbs. (this bike died a horrible death! )
2010 Spesh SJ HT Comp 29er, custom build, 21.98lbs.
    2009 Pivot mach 429, custom build, 25.78lbs.

Not odd at all. It fits your style and comfort for your terrain . As my buddy (OO7) and I always joke, I'll smoke him going up the hill and he'll smoke me going back down. Mine is a 4" FS XC 29er and his is a 5" FS AM 26er.

I still break out the Stumpy from time to time.

And I'll admit it's a lot easier to climb and just fly around on the flat sections with it.

But when it gets hectic, that bike is scary. It slows me way down on the rough stuff, and that is just no fun.

Covert is much more fun to me overall.

I'm on the same boat. I do not want to commit to any one bike nowadays. I want keep trying different XC bikes. I do know that I'm an XC guy, though. I kinda want to see about the 650B thing, too.

And Hawg, that yellow bike you posted earlier, yeah, you don't wanna try DHing on that little thing. Wheels too small, not enough travel. Bars were weird, too.

nope - Sette never returned any emails , so the warranty ran out in Oct.
If you recall, I had the issue months beforehand
Still, they had no replacement frame I would want.

    So, I'll just ride it.
the crack is in a low-catastrophe part of the frame (top of gusset at the ST-TT junction) - In the meantime, I'm scopin 6" frames that have similar specs like seat tube diameter, and zero-stack headsets - don't want tooo many useless bits
    Honestly... ahh I give up

Ozz i was curious if a rim was being used that was flatter in the center section for a tubeless setup to avoid the buildup such as you used would that be a preferred?

I dont think it matters, these tyres are big flappy bits of rubber. I tried a few times and came to the decision the foam centre was the only way to do it sucessfully.... and i was seriously surprised at the result using only a track pump. I dont force opinion, i just ride, enjoy and tell how i done it but it really is the way to go, just get yourself lightweight foam and gorilla tape and give it a go, im 100% converted.

You've put a lot of thought into those blinged margeLites, you can lose the weight of the tubes and add 150g max with sealant. A good deal in my eyes/readers

Ozzy, does the bulk of those big wheels eat through brake pads rapidly? How many miles/kilometers are you getting out of a set of pads. I'm curious because your terrain/trails are similar to mine and I want to compare notes.
