    Water purification

Saturday I had to cut my ride short because I ran out of water. So it got me thinking about carrying purification tablets and a filter bottle with me on my rides.

What are some good choices for a filter bottle.
Preferably a 20oz bottle that will fit in a bottle rack.
I don't feel the need for one of the ultra expensive electronic ones either.
Maybe something around the $25 price if they will do the trick.

    Thanks
Just stick it in granny and start grinding.

On the tour divide you pretty much have to use whatever water sources are available. I used the Sawyer squeeze filter systems: Sawyer® Products - Water Filtration, Insect Repellent, Sunscreens and More

Others used the tabs or drops and others used the steripen: Water Purifier Portable Water Purification System - SteriPEN

I would suggest drinking your own piss, i saw Bear Grylls take his t-shirt off, piss into it and use it as a strainer above his water bottle, if you dont have any from yourself to drink some of your riding mates urine, you cant let it go to waste.

If it's out of a stream and it's already pretty clean looking I'd just add some bleach drops and you essentially have what's in your faucet.
    It's helluva cheaper than tablets.

Is tablets + filter just overkill?
Don't really care if something is floating in the water, just don't want to get sick.

As little as I will need to do it, the cost of tablets is a non-issue.
