Last year I went on a bikepacking trip with a friend at Denali, riding the park road and camping along the way. We brought plenty of camp food and lots of quick-energy goos and bars but our main food was wheat bagels and peanut butter. Near the end of the ride I think I bonked pretty bad, I was shaking and when I stopped for a rest, I fell asleep for half an hour. Other considerations aside, my question is; For an endurance trip like that, would we be better off with a simple carb (regular bagel) over complex carbs? Would that make any difference at all? We're planning another bikepacking trip this summer and I don't want to run out of steam again. Thanks.
