    WNC mountain bike clubs?

Hi everyone. I notice there is strong numbers of bikers in the area. I have a house with some land off of laurel valley rd in mars hill near the slopes. I have been thinking of what to do with it and was wondering if a mountain bike "club" of sorts would work to help pay the mortgage. Its about 13 acres and its up and down. Its about 3400 ft at the road and 3900 at the high point. the place has been abandoned for a couple years now... kinda a shame.
Just looking for opinions, and if there were clubs like this around or what? Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback folks, surely someone who rides in WNC should know if there are private trails or club trails in the area.

I'll try. I'm an officer in one active club, pisgahareasorba. We're about one year old and have an operating budget just enough to keep afloat and definitely no ability to "help" with a mortgage at this point.
It's a great idea, though- we just aren't in a position to do anything like this now or in the near future....

what are you going to do? charge money so people can ride on 13 acres of trails? no offense but I'll see your and raise you a ...

    maybe I missed something?

none the less, what's stopping you from building trails there reguardless? You do ride yourself right?

Considering the amount of options locally for mountain bikers to take advantage of, you would have a hard time convincing me to pay for a ride. I will support clubs and local parks as much as possible/needed but I don't think you are going to make any $$$$ off of a "mountain bike club."

The Vanderbilt's used to own about 125,000 acres in the local area. They might have had a little more luck
    BS'ing less, riding more.

Easy does it. This guy may know nothing about mtn biking. He may be somebody who just had an idea. Kind of a I scratch your back if you scratch mine.

Problem is that 13 acres is a tiny parcel for a real mtn bike trail. The average rider could pedel around a 13 acre course in like 13 minutes. Second problem is there is like several 1,000 acres of national forest land that any local rider can access for free. So I'm not sure many people will be interested in your offer of pay to play.

Now if YOU made the trails or a cool dirt track, or pump track, or stunt course on your land and said yall come over and ride whenever you like and ride for free, you would get a few interested people.

Nobody I know pays to ride. Except maybe at Tsali where it's 2.00 for the day. More likely to find somebody willing to donate land than charge money to ride.

Thanks fellas, I expected flaming but actually was surprised... I will explain further. I know it isn't much land but it is extreme terrain. You could make some killer circuits/tracks,trails and customize things that you may be unable to do in a state park. I say club because there is a house there..
So members would have access to parking, fridge, toilet, camping, etc.
It is just an idea and was wondering if there was anything of the sort around...
As far as pay to ride, thats not what I had in mind. I was thinking more of a donation thing to help out from members...I am not thinking of making money here or anything but it would cost me something to upkeep...thats more of what I was talking about. I don't want to rent the place for someone to live in because then I could not use it.
Thanks for the feedback and I am just throwing around idea's
