    USFS closing North Mills area??

Read in the local paper today that the USFS is closing access to parts of the N. Mills Rec area for around 6 months. Looks like they're going to be logging the **** out of it. Anyone know anything about this? Trail Closures, Restrictions, smart ass comments/environmental rants?

This is all I could find online about it after scouring google for 5 seconds.

I wish the FS service would get their heads out of thier butts and realize outdoor recreational activities and tourist dollars bring in a lot more money long term and is also sustainable.

I knew they where logging but didn't think they where logging above the upper delayed harvest section. This is going to piss off a lot of anglers too. It would be great if different user groups could get together and express our frustrations.

Yes, the North Mills River/Trace Ridge area is about to be logged. Many trails are going bye-bye. Bear Branch will be a road very soon. Wash Creek trail another road. Stretches of Trace Ridge also a road. Yellow Gap trail, you guessed it, another road. The Foster Creek area is going to be so radically changed that it might as well be dismissed as a recreation area. Really the whole area is going to be a very different forest in a year.

It is very sad that the USFS does not recognize the importance of recreation in our forests.

I guess S. Mills is gonna be the new spot then.

Can't find anything updated. But this will give you an idea.

Don't fret though, almost every trail we ride went thru this at some point. Just might take 50years to get back to what we are used to seeing.
