Tire Question for Pisgah / Dupont

I will be headed to Pisgah and Dupont at the end of next month. This will be my second year visiting the area and I absolutely love it!

I have a question concerning tire selection. I don't remember the trails being very gnarly in regards to sharp rocks, etc (compared to riding out West). I would like to run the standard Schwalbe Racing Ralph Evo tires.

Would any of you be concerned about sidewall tears in Pisgah/Dupont? I would hate to travel all the way there with a bad choice of tires...

    Thanks for your input!

I have ripped a couple of sidewalls in Pisgah/Bent Creek, but Dupont is much easier on tires. If you ride smooth and pick your lines, you should be ok, but Pisgah can be brutal on bikes.

I have not had much of a problem with sidewall ripping in Pisgah in the 18 years I have been riding it.
The rocks are very old and rounded off here compared to out west. Plus they are wet and slimy which is more of an issue than sharpness.

I went to Utah a couple times and shredded the sidewalls on some tires there. Very sharp rocks out west in places

Maxxis Ardents work very well as a front tire for me here in Pisgah
Maxxis Crossmark or Icon as a rear work well

Ok, so the subject "Tire question for Pisgah and Dupont" is not anything anyone is interested in.

So you had better have the admin or a moderator remove it from the sticky at the top of the forum here

Tire Question for Pisgah / Dupont

This thread is not a sticky. And we already have a tire thread going. I'd imagine the op is long gone.

If you followed my link, you will see that there is a sticky at the top of this board
Inside that sticky is this post under this heading

    LOL, ok, calm down dude
It's not a big deal, you will survive this

Not sure why you are PO'd about people adding info about tire setups for pisgah and dupont

People coming to visit here, ask all the time what's a good tire setup and it's a valid question because of the wet slippery terrain here

Since this post is at the top of the board and it's title is Tire Question for Pisgah / Dupont, looks like as good as any place to add tire setup info.

I guess the mod thought so also since they included it in the sticky at the top of the board with this title

Tire Question for Pisgah / Dupont

Oh fer Christ sake drama queen. Relax. I simply suggested that rather than digging up old azz threads, that it might be a better idea to contribute to a current one, on the same subject. But whatever, you're new here.
