    Sell Me On Charlotte!

alright here is the lowdown. i grew up in cincinnati but have lived in az from age 18-28. now the special lady friend and i are looking to move, possibly back a little closer to the kinfolk in ky. therefore, i am used to cold, rain, and humidity as well as drought, heat, and blazing sun. my relocation choices are salt lake city, boise, and charlotte. i really like it out west but would like to get a little closer.

i would like to know anything you can give me about charlotte. i am obviously interested in the quality of riding, proximity of trails (hiking, biking), etc. i am also interested in things that only a chamber of commerce, league of municipalities, or riders w/ some extra time on their hands could answer! i am referring to good non-apartment places to rent (eventually will buy a house once settled), good neighborhoods, flat vs. hilly, average incomes and home prices, job market, culture, weather, traffic, and anything else you would like to graciously share! another question that may seem dumb, but are there good places to live where i can ride my beach cruiser? i currently live in a cool neighborhood where i can ride the cruiser almost anywhere.

i spent some time in tuxedo / hendersonville as a pup and really liked it, but i heard jobs are scarce in western nc including asheville.

    thanks!!!!!

You may want to post on www.tarheeltrailblazers.com to get more of the locals.

Any other location recommendations are welcome!

if you think something like greenville would be a better choice, please let me know any pertinent info.

    thanks.

    Greenville

I like Greenville better just because it is much smaller and still has everythinig you need and tons of jobs. It is also a lot closer to the riding in WNC. Many of the people I regularly ride with live there. When I go out to dinner or shop, I go to Greenville. I live in Tuxedo. Technical white collar jobs are hard to come by in WNC, other jobs (health care) are more available.

My vote is Greenville over Charlotte (Greenville SC).

    Lots of jobs.
I can ride my bike to any retail crap I need (neighborhood choice is key).
    Lots of local riding.
    Close (enough) to the mountains.
Everybody here is from Ohio or Pennsylvania.
It's still a city, but it's a pretty clean city.

Best thing about Charlotte is it's proximity to Gastonia
