Seeking Dupont guide for a day (4/26 or 27)

    Hi,

2-3 friends and I (coming from the Triad, NC) are staying in Montreat next weekend and hoping to ride Bent Creek on Friday, then Dupont and the Fish Hatchery on Sat. and Sunday.

Dupont gets me a bit confused and ends up slowing down our ride. Would love it if someone who knows the trails would be interested in guiding us for the day. I heard there is a new fun trail we'd like to try - is it Turkey Knob Connector?

All of us should be fairly fit by then and we generally ride fast and hard on good bikes.

    Should be a fun time!

    Thx,
    Doug

The new(ish) Turkey Knob is good. If you have an old map, here is the trail so you can add it to your existing map. It is however on the new Western NC Trail Guide Maps. You want to do it from the gate down to Briery Fork. If you take it, don't skip Poplar Loop on the way.

Also there is a recent reroute for Hickory Mountain Loop at the top of Ridgeline which has made it a must ride. Fun in either direction.

I usually ride there at least one weekend day and know the park well and may be willing to play tour guide but at the very least can suggest some good routes.

How many miles are you guys willing to do?
Just stick it in granny and start grinding.

Awesome - thank you very much!
I guess 30 miles, maybe 40 if a lunch break.

Hoping to do 20-25 miles of Fish Hatchery trails on the other day - be it Sat. or Sunday. I have a 20mi. routed written out but a guide is always appreciated.

Will likely ride Bent Creek on Friday aft. 2ish. You are most welcome to join us. I'm also friends with Patrick McMahon and Mike Bucking should you know them. They're racing next weekend.

In addition to the new stuff, would love to show my Triad buds Ridgeline, Airstrip, Cedar Rock, etc...anything fast and flowy.

I could do 30-40 miles out there.
All those trails could be knocked out in that distance also.
Won't be able to do Fri at BC. I have a pesky little thing called a job going on.

Be aware that some of the trails near the Fish Hatchery are seasonal and closed to bikes as of April 15th.

I will probably be able to guide you guys but let me get back with you later this evening.

I am also headed out there from the Triad this weekend (Winston-Salem) but I will likely be sticking to the Ranger district. So much to ride there! Can only manage a long day trip on Sunday though.

There will only be 2-3 of us but the more the merrier!
