    From NWS:

    * three to four inches of rain is possible along the crest of
the Blue Ridge... with around two inches over the remainder of
    the associated counties.

    * While isolated flash flooding cannot be ruled out... the main
threat will be flooding along creeks... streams and rivers.

I suspect the festivities will be postponed.

I've looked around and can't find any info on rates for Rocky Knob. Anyone know or can direct me to a link?

This will be great. I am moving back to NC sometime in the near future. Moving to RDU area but a weekend drive would be great.

Best time this weekend will be Saturday morning. After that, 70% chance of t-storms and roughly an inch of rain over the rest of the weekend and into next week.

Leaves are coming out nicely making it beautiful outside.

It was great about an hour ago! T storm on it right now. I agree w/ Lyule's forecast, but it will be wet early. Radar check in the morning and you may get it in before the bigger stuff.

Is the whole trail open or just parts? There was tape saying that one trail was closed and then a map showing a different part (the upper part) of the trail was closed. It was slightly confusing.

I know the amount of work that went into the place was tremendous and this will seem nit picky but if it really is all open someone should update the signs/maps and pull down tape that says it's closed. There were two other guys there that 2+ hours specifically to ride the trail and were (as was I) frustrated to find that it appeared it wasn't actually all open. With that said, I still enjoyed my time there and thought the trails were excellent.

I left from there today at 4:45 and there was tape across the trail and a sign stating "trail closed" where Middle Earth exits the second skills area at the entrance to PBJ. I rode down PBJ to the powerline road and back up to where Middle Earth would cross over. BREMCO (The local electric provider) has been doing work there with heavy equipment and have marking flags all over the place. The trail from the second skills area has been covered with a mound of dirt and brush and is definitely not rideable.

Beyond that point, I rode up to Boat Rock and then did the bailout before Ol' Hoss.

After the construction/destruction of the top of the powerline road and Middle Earth intersection, I didn't encounter any more trail closures.

2morrow, man I'm so sorry you didn't get to ride more. There really ought to be a sign at the second skills area describing the ride-around. Given the excellent park management, I suspect the tape and signs are reactionary to whatever BREMCO is doing as there may not be any communication from BREMCO.

They are building a cell tower in that spot. As Lule stated, I would ride down the first leg of the PBJ trail and turn left under the powerlines, or reverse the return trail from the first four PBJ jumps. Everything else in the park is good to go.

Watch out for trucks/machines/etc on the road crossings on the PBJ trail!

Yep, drunk posting is rarely a good idea. It's like a one night stand: once you wake up, you're gonna regret it.

Pretty hard to predict the length, severity and other factors related to winter weather, and thus hard to predict when the park might open (though I think it is open right now, but will close when the big thaw begins).

Rocky Knob held up great though the summer/fall despite record rainfall for the area:
