    Riding near Spruce Pine

I'm trying to find a place to bike with my daughter and her boyfriend on Friday. We're in town visiting relatives and are all intermediate level mountain bikers. We're looking for trails that we could ride in 2 to 3 hours and withing 45 minutes from Spruce Pine. They would also need to be well marked.

It looks like Rocky Knob in Boone might be a good option. Bent Creek looks a little far for the time we have. Wilson Creek appears to not be well marked from what I can tell from comments on this forum.

    Would appreciate any suggestions.

Wilsons is close but as you noted not really marked at all.
Rocky Knob is very nice, more technical (rock gardens) lots of nice jumps and some skinnys in the skill parks. Lots of climbing there if you go to the top. because its so rocky it drains very well which is a big bonus this summer with all the rain.
In order to get 2-3 hrs you will have to do a couple laps.
    Hope that helps.
Warriors Creek is awesome if dry and a longer 12 mile loop it is another 30min or so of driving past rocky knob however.

You can be to Kitsuma in 45 minutes. I'd ride that over Rocky Knob.

Is the greenway open yet or do you still have to go up Mill Creek Rd to the dirt road to catch the trailhead?

I didn't realize they had closed it down....have not been to Kit in a while. I actually prefer Mills Creek Rd to the greenway.

Yeah, it was closed because of an erosion issue along the greenway. It was closed for the ORAMM weekend anyway. I actually liked the dirt road better as well.

So they sent them up Mills Creek lap one of Kitsuma during ORAMM? I would rather go up the greenway in that scenario....

I rode the old 70 Greenway last Thursday and it was open.
