    Pisgah 55.5k questions

My girlfriend and I signed up for the Pisgah 55.5k race and I was hoping that I could get a few questions answered. We started hitting a few mountain bike races last year and are really looking forward to running this in May. We have done the Black bear rampage at Tanasi (20) mile, Icycle, and a couple at Tsali but none of them had check points or supply stations and I'm not quite sure how they work. Looking at the map on the site it shows a couple check points. How do these work? Will we be able to resupply water at these checkpoints or do we have to carry all our water with us? Any idea on the total ascent for this course? Thanks for helping a couple Pisgah noobs out.

Thanks so much for signing up! The rest areas (checkpoints) will be fully stocked with food, water (enough to refill your camelbak every time), friendly people, and mechanical support personnel. Need chain lube? They've got your back. Slow leak? slipping handlebar? Same. Major 'My goodness you've never checked your chain wear, have you?' repairs? ehhh, probably not.
The estimated elevation gain is about 5-6'000'.
We look forward to seeing you in May. Contact us at pisgahpro gmail com if you have more questions.
You can please some people sometimes but you can't please all the people all the time.

Sounds great. Thank you for clarifying that for me.

Make no mistake this race will not be easy. The descents off Pilot rock and Black Mountain are very technical. I did it's big brother the 111K (which shares half the course of the 111K) last year and it was by far the hardest, most grueling race I have ever done. I somehow ended up signing up for the 111K again this year. I don't know why I like paying Eric money to submit myself to self torture. But hey there's burritos at the end so I guess it's not so bad.

Make sure your brake pads are good before beginning the race

Of course, you could always just buy a burrito for $5 at the Mexican place over there by Sycamore Cycles and save yourself a lot of pain

Post-leg-and-lung-thrashing burritos are God's food. Good luck on the 55!

Does God get a beer with that burrito? Or is he Baptist?
