8:30 AM Vendor set up for swap meet
9:00 AM Doors open to the public, FREE ADMISSION
2:30 PM Presentation of bike show awards
Bike Swap: The swap will take place in the Statesville Civic Center In Historic Downtown Statesville. The 4 year-old facility features a 19’ x 21’ fresco by world-renowned artist, and Statesville native, Ben Long. Vendor tables are available to sell bikes, parts and related accessories. If you don’t want to watch your table, bring your stuff and we will sell it for you (call for details).
Bike Show: Last year we had some stunning show bikes. Anybody remember the Shelby "Donald Duck" bike? How about the running of the "Whizzers" (motorized bikes from the 1940’s) through downtown Statesville. Maybe we will bring an ordinary (high wheel) bike for some practice runs as well. There will be some nice vintage road bikes and mountain bikes to check out. Awards will be given for each era of bikes. All of the folks from the seminars will also be wandering around the building and will be available to reminisce about the good old days. When was the last time you had the opportunity to talk to Ross Shafer and Paul Sadoff about the beauty and details of a Rene Herse and many others?
All proceeds will go to the Crossroads Cycling Club to help support building of the Lake Norman State park trail. The trail will be built entirely from donated materials and volunteer labor. There will be hundreds of volunteer hours and thousands of dollars needed. Please lend your support to this effort.
Bring a lunch, no on-site food available
3:00-8:00: PINKS RACE
We were trying to come up with some type of semi-competitive mountain bike activity for Sunday evening and after much head-banging, this is the result.
The Signal Hill Mountain Bike Trail, built on a reclaimed landfill, is about a 2.5 mile ride from the shop so it will be easy to access and there is a good place to set up some grills. We have a venue, now we need an event I had seen the TV show "Pinks" a couple of time and figured we could come up twist on that theme. Since I doubted that anyone would actually race for possession of their pride and joy, we came up with this alternative:
- Buy in of $10 (includes food, beverage and 2 Pinks). You will be able to purchase additional Pinks ($5 for 2)
- The race will take place on a section of the trail that will be about 1 mile
- 2 riders per "race" will line up and decide if any time advantage will be given to your opponent
- Winner of race gets one Pink from loser
- Three extra events will be available to earn more Pinks (Max of one extra Pink per event)
- 1)Log Pull (pull past the marker and earn a Pink)
- 2)Huffy Toss (throw a Huffy past the marker and earn a Pink)
- 3)Slow Course (ride the course over the minimum time and earn a Pink)
- As a bonus for riding your vintage bike: 1991-96 bikes get 1 extra Pink, 1986-90 bikes get 2 extra Pinks and pre-1986 bikes get 3 extra Pinks
- 8:00 P.M. Everyone will write their name on the back of their Pinks and a lottery drawing will be held for prizes. Cool?

7:30 Meet in the parking lot behind First Flight Bicycles
8:00 Leave First Flight Bikes to head up to the Pisgah Forest, near Asheville, for 4-5 hours of riding. In 2005 we rode in the Davidson River area of the Pisgah Forest.
10:00 Leave to begin the ride. For those folks not traveling from the shop, just meet and be ready to ride @ 10:00. This years ride will have multiple ride leaders by the good duys at Sycamore Cycles. Wes @ Sycamore is currently mapping out the trails we will ride for this year so keep in touch to find out were we will be riding. There will be a couple of different groups to ride with depending on skill and ability. In 2005 we rode a loop of approximately 18 miles using parts of the Caney Bottom, Daniel Ridge and Long Branch.
Should make for a fun day!
We look forward to seeing you. Thank you.
