    MT Mitchell

I noticed there is no online maps of the trails in the mt mitchell area, and was curious what some good trails are around that area to ride, and how they compare to trails in pisgah and dupont with regaurds to technicality, and length. Any info would be great. Thanks.

Well, if your looking for singletrack trails in the general vicinity of Mt. Mitchell, forget it. Even if you want to do horsetrails, there are NONE open to mtn. bikers . I'm up here now and the only fireroads open are FS 2074 which takes you from the parkway to the Black Mountain Campground area. FS 472 is closed to vehiclular traffic so I'm not sure if it's passable with a bike. There are more trails as you head toward Asheville, but this central part of the mountains is not geared toward our use.

To find a trial map of Mt. Mitchell, search North Carolina State Parks. Good luck.

Here is a link to an interactive map of the Mount Mitchell area. None of the trails are open to bikes, though...
