I always love the "who pays for the road" argument.
Hey, guess what...I have a car too. I also have a work truck and probably drive more miles then 99% of the people claiming "they pay for the road". So if vehicle taxes and fuel consumption are what "pay for the road" then I own a little bit more of it then 99% of the people b!tching about bicycles.

what bothered me about this (besides the fact the guy had a bat and ran over a bike)...was the comments section...most of the people had something bad to say about bikers...like this biker flipped me off or this biker ran thru a stop sign...and Im sure that happens but the times Ive ridden on the road Ive seen more cars almost have a head on collisions because they couldnt wait a few seconds to pass me..and this is on a road that is less traveled...I really do not get it..but people are too impatient and willing to take crazy chances with everyones lives.

psychoanalyzing the average overweight American is pointless especially when they're behind the wheel of a car. They see skinny dudes in skin tight clothes and there is something that is triggered at a subconscious level - they want to be able to do something similar, but they can't so they're pissed. We're in their way. It's their road. ETC...

This is why I stopped road riding several years ago. In this scenario, I would have ended up in jail, and he'd have ended up in the hospital getting the bat removed from an orifice.

I think you way over analyzed this.
I highly doubt the average overweight guy thinks to himself "look at that fit guy, since I can't be him, I will kill him".

It may be the subconscious thought of a few obese people but I am going to go out on a limb and say it has less to do with the physical fitness of the driver and more to do with the mental capacity.

Most motorists don't respect each other's right and privilege to use the roads...and there is an assumption that they will respect a cyclist's rights to use those same roads? I am really surprised that no cyclist has been shot on the roads. People just don't think sometimes...
any time spent riding a bicycle is re-cycled goodness....
