you gotta stop getting your mileage from the route planner on your laptop, that pink beds route is longer than 10 miles.

btw, any word on the 17th?

I figured out the minor discrepancy with the not-to-be-mentioned trail last Friday - the route got split... it was really 27 miles on the NatGeo. 10 miles isn't too far off - I checked a GPS from last fall and it was 10.96 for the route.

17th could only be a day ride at best, I traded my wife 4 full-day weekend rides and the night rides next week for her to head to FL with friends for a music festival next weekend. I hate to miss the camping though.

We have been riding about twice a week - during the week, so just pick a day next week and we can plan on it.Check the weather and ur schedule and pick a day or two and we will hit it!

    two weeks ago we did:

Up coontree> down bennett>477>claw>maxwell>black> accross to northslope and did the loop>out past the English chapel>276>477>to the top of Bennett>Coontree.

It was very nice, 23miles and got 3 seasonals.

They should push back the closing date for seasonal trails, since the weather has sucked for most of the "season."
Friends don let friends ride road bikes.

    Tuesday: Coontree @ 8

    Coontree/Bennett (14 miles)
Coontree, Bennett, 477, Buckhorn, Clawhammer, Black, Buckwheat, Bennett, Coontree

We can go up Buckhorn for more single-track climbing or just grunt all the way up Clawhammer to get to the fun stuff faster... Should be lots of stars out as we are just about at the new moon. Bring your brightest lights!

That sounds like a good loop.
I have never taken Buckhorn instead of climbing Clawhammer, so I need to try that sometime.
This weekend we climbed in to the top of Bennett, bombed it, then climbed back up and did Black Mountain to the bottom, then climbed back up and around and did Sycamore Cove the long way. Great way to close down the seasonal trails and I was toast.

I'll keep that in mind. Luckily it is just a demo and not a purchase.

    SWEET!

Maybe I can try one of those fancy 29er bikes with gears and squishy stuff on Wednesday for Butter and Cat Gap? I'm already @ full posuer status on the 29 part.

We don't have such glorious trails to night ride on where I live so I have to ask,
Does anyone hit the creek gap on Coontree in the dark

Hell, I don't ride the crazy stuff in the day - but the last two times down in the dark I rode more than ever so I'm either getting better (doubtful) or I just can't see far enough ahead to be skeert.

    Fun we yhad!

Coontree was a great warmup, Bennett 2 477 is fast and fun, Clawhammer is dry and goes by quickly at night, Black over Rich is in great shape, Buckwheat is an easy climb and a wild ride down in the dark, Bennett is Bennett, riding really sweet at the end of the season, Coontree to the car is one of the funnest downhills in Pisgah.

The stars were shining in Pisgah and what a show they put on! And BTW, Pisgah is getting really GREEN

Butter and Cat Gap tomorrow anyone? 8PM @ the fish hatchery.
