    Going to Pisgah..I need info

My wife and I are going to camp/ride in Pisgah at the end of Sept. I've looked around for some info, but with little luck. I could spend all day searching the internet to find info, but I figured some people here might already know and could make it easy for me.

-Where to camp (with showers, close to trails)
-Where to gets trailmaps/good trailmaps or books (online?)
    -Best intermediate trails
    -Local bike shops
-Other info I might need to know

    Post here or PM me.

    Thanks for any information.....

Ok, I'll check it out. BTW, is this ReserveUSA the official reservation site? I found this site, but I didn't know if I should just call and make the reservations just to be sure?

    maps

You can find maps on-line at the cradle of forestry site (i think its cradleofforestry.com). the National Geographic "trails illustrated" are pretty darn good. Trails Illustrated #780 covers A-vegas, dupont state forest and and the Pisgah Ranger District of Pisgah N.F and that's where you A-vegas trails will be located. Google "trails illustrated" and look for #780 and you'll find it. Most local bike shops will have it if you can wait.

Now if you're going to Grandfather District of Pisgah get map 789 (I think) it covers Mount Mitchell and Linvill Gorge. it covers the Wilson's Creek area and there is some good ridin there, although the trails are not as well marked as the A-vegas stuff.

    follow this link http://www.backcountryoutdoors.com/BooksMaps.html

Get the book and map at the top of the page.

A lot of the pisgah trails are fairly advanced. Bent Creek, DuPont, and the North Mills River area have more of the intermediate area.

    Have Fun!

Thanks for all the recommendations. I'll look into this stuff and probably order the book tonight.
