    fundraiser for Trish

    Hi Everyone,
I'm sure most of you have heard - Trish Stevenson had
a mtb crash in Whistler a couple weeks ago. She has
fractured her neck (C6-7) and is in a brace for 3
months. She has no med. insurance and is getting hit
by some big expenses and can't work. She's totally
    bummed as you can imagine.

So, I've thought of a couple of fundraiser ideas to
help her out. This weekend I'm heading up to
Shenandoah Mountain 100 with Marv (can't race due to
my own little collarbone mishap!) and having a
    bike-stuff yard sale.
Chris Scott has agreed to send out an email to
that's going. Basically donating parts, gear, anything
bike related and selling it at the race with all the
    proceeds going to TRish.

So if you, or you know anyone with bike parts/stuff
laying around that they want to donate, give it to
either me or people you know heading up there and I'll
try to sell it. Put your own price on it - whatever
you think it is worth. What doesn't sell, I'll bring
back and we'll have another one here in Asheville later.

Also, what do people think about an epic ride in Pisgah in the fall and charging a donation - keeping it low key to avoid Forest Service rangers??

And send strong, positive energy thoughts to Trish!

    Cheers and thanks!

I'm heading up there Fri around lunch!

Sounds great! I may have a few parts laying around for you... I'll call if I dig anything up.
Be very careful with any 'pay-to-play' in the forest. Permits ARE required for such a thing and really aren't that tough to get. If you are able to advertise I bet you'll get more donations than if you try to keep it on the down-low...
Contact me if you decide to wade into that beurocracy I'll offer any help or guidance I can.

You can please some people sometimes but you can't please all the people all the time.

E- SM100 starts from a private campground. Not a worry...

Karen- can we use either BioWheels or ProBikes as "drop points?" That would be super convenient and make sense...

    Great idea.

Edit: Oops- I just re-read Karen's post and realized you were talking about the epic donatation ride, E. Yes, I agree, that needs to be a "on the down-low" idea....Mike

    Hey Karen,
I am scrambling to get ready for SM100. I don't know if I can find some parts quick, but I'll definitely get you some $$$'s. I posted a call for help on my blog, and I'll try to mention something for the next few days.
    See you there,

I get paid 3 every time I post on MTBR.

Will be up at the sm-100 and I would like to help. My spare parts aren't worth bringing but I can definitely donate!

Checked with Eric at Biowheels - Asheville people can drop off stuff there today and tommorrow and assuming it's not too much, I can take it up to SM 100. Put names and prices on it. We are planning on leaving early Sat. morning now that it's supposed to rain all day tommorrow.

    Hey again,
We raised some nice dosh for Trish at Shenandoah 100 - thanks so much to all that donated parts and bikes! Trish is def. feeling the love! I plan to set up again at 24 HOP at Camp Carolina this Fri at registration and try and sell the rest of the stuff. There are a few bikes to sell also: a Klein Palmino FS (med.) for $700: black Surly 1x1 (59cm?) for $500 and old classic Stumpjumper for $200. Let me know if anyone's interested and I'll give you more details. All offers will be considered.
Also, we have set up a deposit only account for Trish at Bank of America:
The acct. # is 237001113073 for Tricia L Stevenson. The account is a North Carolina Acct. So out of state deposits will need to use an out of state deposit slip and mark it NC.
    Thanks again!
