    Free Rough Creek Watershed Map

We recently published a FREE map of the Rough Creek Watershed Trail System to the Avenza PDF-Maps App and store. In the near future, we'll be adding a PDF of this map to the Town of Canton website ("Rough Creek Watershed" Trail System | canton) as well as an interactive web map. We also plan on providing GPX files of the trails and roads.

The Town of Canton is working to promote the Rough Creek Watershed Trail System as a place people can get out to enjoy the outdoors while visiting the town. The trails and roads are steep in places but overall it is a beautiful and unique area worth checking out. A great asset of the Town of Canton that is currently underutilized. The trails and roads can get overgrown during the summer so this is a good time of year to go for a hike or ride. Currently, the trails must be accessed from the trailhead at the southern entrance.

Download the PDF-Maps app here - Avenza PDF Maps | Get the app. Get the map.® and then do a quick search for Rough Creek Watershed. The map is free and will download to your phone so it works with the phone GPS and no cell phone reception. Available for iOS and Android.

    Enjoy!

This past Saturday, Nov. 16th, a crew of 6 volunteers spent the day clearing the 2.5 mile single track (Cherry Cove Trail) as part of our annual fall trail maintenance. The trail is cleared of all downfalls and overgrowth and is in great shape for riding. While clearing the deadfalls across the trail, we put in 2 log rides in an effort to add a few TTFs along the trail. Cherry Cove Trail was designed and built by Trail Dynamics in 2008 and was designed for mountain biking. If you plan to ride in Rough Creek, I would suggest riding Cherry Cove Trail as an out & back in order to fully enjoy the trail.

Great map. Can't say much about the trails because, unfortunately, I haven't been there

Can you access the area labeled The Glades from the trail system, or is that still private property? Looks like there might be some views from up there...

The Glade, if you are referring to the housing development/community that wraps around the upper portion of the watershed, is private property & there is no public access. If you are referring to the high mtn bog, labeled as The Glades, it is part of the watershed, but it is not included in the trail system. Since it is an ecological sensitive area, public access is not encouraged. Along the trail system there are really good views toward the crest of the Smokies and to the southeast across the watershed toward Mount Pisgah & Canton.
