Davidson Rvr Rd/FS475, Davidson Rvr Trail CLOSURE

FYI - Beginning Monday January 24th FS475, aka Davidson Rvr Rd, will be closed to ALL (even bikes) through traffic. I think they are finally fixing the washout between the hatchery and Cove Creek. Looks like the gate will be between 475B and Davidson River trailhead, and a gate at the end of the pavement @ Cove Creek. So, the only car access to Cove Creek will be from Cathy's Creek Rd / Balsam Grove. I also heard from the Ranger office that Davidson River Trail will be closed as well so you WILL NOT be able to park at the hatchery and ride Daniel Ridge or Cove Creek and return on Davidson River Trail. If you go up 475B to Cove Creek or Daniel Ridge you can only get back to the hatchery using Long Branch, Cat Gap.

FWIW Cathy's Creek Rd. is a slopfest.

Anyone know conditions of the other dirt roads in the area...1206, 5000, 475B, 477? Mucky i'm sure, but was unsure if there are any closures.

    Official Notice of Closure

Pisgah Ranger District, Transylvania County, NC

A section of the Davidson River Road, National Forest System Road (NFSR) # 475 is scheduled for repair and will be closed January 24, until the repair work is completed, an estimated two months. Past rain events have led to fill slope failures limiting traffic on the road to one lane. The US Forest Service has partnered with the Federal Highway Administration to stabilize and repair these areas of the roadway.

The closure will extend from the intersection of Davidson River Road and Headwaters Road (NFSR # 475-B) from the east, to the intersection of Davidson River Road and Cove Creek Road (NFSR # 809) from the west.

In addition, Davidson River Trail (FS Trail # 650) will be closed for safety reasons since equipment will be working above this trail and because a section of the trail will be used for equipment access to the toe of the fill slope. Additionally, an area closure will be in place for all forest users between the east and west closure points.
