Brevard Public Space Planning Meeting Dec 10
Brevard will host a public space planning open house on Dec 10th with drop by hours of 9-12 and 4-7. Folks who live in Brevard or Trans county should work this into your schedule and get involved.
This is a good opportunity for many voices to point out the need for an urban bike park in Brevard. It is surprising that upstate SC will get 2 bike parks in 2013 and NC has none as of yet in the works.
More details on the SC bike parks in a separate post.
What does a bean mean?!
If you can't go - and even if you can - definitely go to the link Woodman posted and take the survey. It's really just one question: "What public space do you want to see in Brevard?" This can be new stuff (bike park/pump track/etc) or changes to something that is already on the ground (picnic area on Bracken, expand greenway).
Incomplete link, no workie.

Copy and paste didn't work for me, these do. Thanks Woody!
There was an 1/2 page ad in the Trans on Thurs about the upcoming openhouse. It started with " Citizens are the experts. Join in a discusion of the role PUBLIC SPACE will play to enhance quality of life, foster economic development, protect our natural resources and heritage, and build our community by bringing people together."
At the bottom of the page is listed possible future projects:
parks, farmers market, open space, community centers, recreation facilities, bike paths, green space, public parking, skate park, gardens
No mention of a possible bike park. Now is the time to put this on the radar screen of Brevard leadership, after all Trans County is the self declared "Cycling capital of the south".
Just a quick reminder of the open space planning public open house meetings today, folks that live in Trans County/Brevard area should plan to stop by. I plan to attend this afternoon.
Drop in any time from 4 - 7 TONIGHT in the Rogow Room at the Transylvania County Library to make sure the needs/wants of the biking community get heard!
