Bike trails near Cascade Lake Campground

Any trails close to Cascade Lake Campground? Will probably have to ride my bike to the trail because I will be riding with someone else. Thanks for any info.

Getting a "clue", now to get n shape. Have until last weekend of Sept. to do it. Being from Piedmont of NC, not familiar with these trails except for what I have read on MTBR forums. Most of my "mountain time" is spent around Boone/Blowing Rock because it's only two hours from home. I do some fly fishing for trout, one reason for the B/BR area, close to home and familiar with the stream. Hope to learn SW NC better on this trip. will be traveling with our church men's group, so will have to see how my "free time" works out.

You will see signs to DuPont on the way to Cascade Lake. It's an easy road ride to trails- like 3 miles or less. You will need a map, period, end of story. Go to either bike shop in nearby Pisgah Forest for maps and additional info.

Dang! Campground is on a dead-end road on the WRONG side of the lake. I'll work it out somehow.

I suppose I'm confused, but why can't you just ride your bike out the road?

It's about a five mile ride just to get anywhere near DuPont Forest, by that time, I'd be too tired to ride a trail. (64 years old and out of shape) I hope to drive my own vehicle instead of riding with others to give me the "freedom" to go where I want when I want. Sorry for the confusion. That's my sense of humor, or lack as some as my daughters "constantly remind" me.

Cascade Lake has free maps in the camp store, but they will only last a day. Decide for yourself.

There is a way to get from the campground to the Hooker Falls lot via the woods, but it's not fun!
