    Bent Creek Alert!

As you know most of the snow is melting, the sun is shining and it is above freezing. If you decide to hit Bent Creek this weekend please be aware of the freeze thaw cycle as well as the snow that is steadily soaking the tread. I just took the dogs a walk to evaluate the conditions and it is deteriorating fast. Please stay off the lower trails (Deer Lake, Wolf Branch, Hardtimes connector, Boyd Branch, Lower Sidehill, Homestead, Ledford,Pine Tree and the trails that have no names, you know the ones I speak of) The upper sections drain way better and should be ok when the snow melts.

I probably don't need to warn most folks because nobody on here rides at Bent Creek and it is in fact the arm pit of WNC mtb. But never the less it is going to be very messy this weekend. Please respect the trail and encourage folks to ride better draining trails.

Rode up 491 from R-P at luchtime, the slush makes gravel FS roads fun and challenging.

We were talking last night about doing a Bent Creek Tour (on pavement, in the neighborhood and the Arboretum, with some possible closed Parkway climbing) on Sunday. A ride is a ride under these conditions.

Anyone ride bent creek this weekend? Are the conditions as sloppy as originally suspected?

bent creek isn't the arm pit, it is a good place to just enjoy a nice ride to get away.
