Is this rain or shine?
Because this weekend is looking pretty nasty so far.

I think they mean March 24th. I would love to do this but have a gig this Sunday. And it is supposed to be nasty rainy and cold. Not that that would stop me.

Yes, March 24 is the Pre-Ride and April 14 is the race for A-opp. My mistake!

I may join yall if the singletrack around is too wet to ride. I am on vacation and would love to get on the bike and meet some new people.
https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Natio...gah+Forest,+NC
Can someone clarify that this is the meeting place? Im from out of town and dont necessarily know my way around.
And is that accurate that 50 miles should take 10 hours? Thats a 5mph average correct? That only makes sense if its extremely technical singletrack or super super steep fire road climbs. Like "waking steep".
If so, my Ole' Lady wont be happy if I ride that long on vacation. 4-5 hours I could probably get away with.

sheep- I did not click your link-y, but 5mph is a pretty standard average for Pisgah proper rides that include group dynamics. If you're a hammer riding with other hammers or by yourself, you can go a little faster, but that's about right...
-
If it is a pre-ride of the actual race course, the web site says that it is about 40 miles and it appears to be about half forest road and half trial. So 10 hours would be slow even for me. I suspect that someone will win this race in about 3 1/2 hours or faster.

Sounds like fun. I'm in if I can get over a sore back that has been killing me for a week. Getting old is tough. You can throw your back out for no apparent reason.

Looks to be 1/2 service road and 1/2 single track from the information posted.

Lots of FS road. FYI I think the wrong map was posted. I think this is the correct one.

To me it look more like 2/3 FS road 1/3 single track. Granted some of that 2/3 is closed FS road but still double track at the very least.
If you are looking for single track I don't think this will fit your bill. That said don't under estimate the Pisgah. Some good links in the sticky thread up top. Not sure what day you are looking to ride but i wil probably be riding some single track in Friday and Saturday.

If you have Verizon you should be ok even through pretty much all of DuPont and most of Pisgah.
Any other carrier can be spotty.
I always flip my phone to airplane mode though because bouncing from tower to tower kills the battery especially when I have Strava running in the background.
