Anyone want to ride Rocky Knob tomorrow ?

Thinking about heading up to Boone from Asheville in the morning to ride Rocky Knob then back. My normal motley crew can't make it.

Any one want to go ride bikes?

That's a long ride to Rocky Knob and back.
I don't think you can do it.

Anyways, I see how it is. Wait til I crash and can't ride. I see your fear.
Just stick it in granny and start grinding.

If you will agree to do it, maybe I will stop crashing so I can get ready.

I saw that they are having a Giant demo day up there next Sunday. I may check it out then.

There is some new dirt getting moved around up there this week. It most likely won't be open this weekend but the park is in great shape and will have plenty of traffic.

I've never been up but might be going Monday... I have a choice between a carbon hardtail and a freeride bike... Which bike would you guys recommend? Is there a good amount of climbing that'd make a big bike miserable or would it be worth huffing it up for the payoff?

Rode it today, definitely take a full suspension IMHO. None of the climbs were too steep. I think you will appreciate the all mountain, and a carbon hArdtail doesn't seem like the best option..

I really enjoyed the trail, they did a great job building it. Nice balance between tech and flow. My plan was to to boat rock down then go back up and do ol' hoss. Between my legs being shot from yesterday, a ripped sidewall, and thunder in the background I decided to call it a day.

Parts of the climb are quit rocky so an active full suspension will help. Same with coming back down. Rocky enough to rip the sidewall of a panaracer rampage. I was taking it pretty slow coming down as I wasn't sure what to expect, but you could really rip it and have lots or hucking oppurtunities.

The skills areas were pretty fun too. Though they seemed to be either very easy or quite difficult. Some where more suspension that I brought would be appropriate.

I will definitely go again but will probably try to work in Kerr Scott too.
