Suggestions for RIP 2011 chain/ring guards (not chain guide)

What kind of chain/ring guards are you using for your RIP (2009-2012)?

The new RIP has the ISCG and according some reviews there has been made changes to fit the guards more easily.
On the older models the guards must be fitted on BB.
On my Trance this was possible only after modification of the guard (MRP), as it was not possible to thigh it enought that it would keep it's position after a hard hit on it.

The bike has 2x10 gearing (not 3x10 with removed big ring)

I would also appreciate if you have some photos of your setup.

I put on an x9 3 x 10 crank, and put a guard on the outer ring. I wanted a bash guard after getting a chain ring in the thigh during a race. I also wanted to stop the chain from falling off the big ring. I guess it also protects the CVA linkage on the bottom a bit. My shifting works fine. I put a pic up on the Rip build up post.

    I'm building a 2012 Rip 9 frame right now.

I am not so sure I'm going to like 1x10, but here is what I'm going with. ( I can always change it later to 2x10)

    Race Face Turbine triple crank

    no granny gear

30 tooth Race Face narrow wide chain ring.

Outer ring = Race Face light bash guard 32t size.

I will then probably go with XTR shadow plus rear derailleur and xtr shifter.

So, if I like 1x10 I can stick with it. If I don't like 1x10 I can put a granny gear back on and swap out the 30 tooth ring for something bigger ( like 24-38) and I can still keep the bash guard. I'd have to buy a front shifter and front derailleur then too.

That's what I'm thinking. I've been using 2x9 for a awhile and I still drop into the granny for these tight steep technical sections I encounter here in the North East. So, I'm not sure if 1x10 is going to totally work for me. But I can try it without a big cost.

The Blackspire defender bash would be the cleanest/most robust protection option in my opinion.

    BBG

I've always run what you see pictured below w/an XT crankset. For my hood, a 30t ring proves adequate for everything.

Thank you all for your thoughts.
But I'm not interested on Bash Guards.
I woul rather have A guard that is installed on BB
