    Steerer length question

    Hey guys.

Looking to buy a used fork in good condition, the only issue is that its cut to 7 1/2"

I'm putting it on a Air One 9.. I ride with my stem pretty much slammed, am I going to have enough room to be able to do this?

    XL frame.
    My EBB so loud
    I'm mashing...

Is it an Air 9, Air 9 Scandium, One 9, or a One 9 Scandium? The XL Air 9 and One 9 have a 5.7 inch long headtube, while the XL scandium frames are 4.7 inches. Assuming your stem is about 1 inch long, and you have an Internal headset, then you might just squeak by with enough room. If it's a scandium frame and/or you have an Integrated headset, then I think you'd be perfectly fine.

I am by no means and expert, so hopefully others will chime in.

For the scandium you are looking at about 35mm each for external headset and stem, so almost 3". That plus 4.7" means 7.7" and probably a bit short on the steerer tube. However the steerer is designed to be cut a few mm below the top of the stem and you can get away with maybe 5 to 10mm below the top of your stem and still have safe and secure clamping.
