    RIP bar width

Thinking about picking up a RDO 780 bar to replace the 710 niner carbon bars I have. I would need to cut down the 780 to about a 740 because of tight trails. Would it still be worth it? I am using a 60 mm stem with a 6 degree rise currently.

I am running a 720mm bar on my rip, and am very happy with it on my tight trails. I am 6'6" btw, and don't really get the super wide bars people are starting to use. Then again, there is a lot that I don't get!

    I'm 6 foot Ride Lge Rip9's with 50mm stem,

    I have 711mm on the alloy Rip9 & 780mm on the Carbon.

I don't really feel like the wider bar gives me anything better, I will 1 day cut down the wider bars a bit for the trails that are more narrow.

I think for me around 740 to 750 is about as wide as I really need as a max.

I'm running the 740 ENVE bars with the low rise and 70mmm stem on my Rip9RDO and I think they are perfect for me. I went from a 685 Easton EC70 low rise bar when I had the Jet9RDO. I prefer the wider bars for my current bike and trails but, I don't think I would be interested in much wider. It would be just that much less versatile on the more tight technical stuff.

So far got a couple rides under my belt. I may trade out my 60mm stem for the stock 90mm stem to see how that is. I have no issues with the 60 but want to experiment.

I wonder why Niner specs with a long stem when the trend with this bike is short?
