I took the plunge into carbon.....

This is my first round into the world of carbon frames... Vanna is her name.. This must be the 2nd rev. of frames as the headset is drop in like the original '09 RIP's. Running full length cable housing to prevent all of the horror stories I read about ghost shifting. For me, a svelte 25.4 pounds is the lightest bike I've ever owned. The specs are...
    med. size frame
    combination of XTR/XT drivetrain (9speed)
XX SID 120mm 15mm axle fork
Hayes Prim Pro brakes with Alligator serrated rotors 180mm
Light Bike AM carbon rims laced to CK hubs (rear has 10mm Hadley bolt on thru axle) converted to tubeless
WTB Bronson up front and Kenda Small Block 8 in the rear
Answer Pro taper AM carbon bars with Oury grips
    Niner carbon RDO seatpost
    WTB silverado saddle
    lastly Cytoe's lower link bashguard

When you say full length cable housing do you mean from the BB to r. derailleur or the entire bike right from the shifter? I'm considering doing a bit of drilling this winter to run one piece of housing so I may be interested in your opinion.

Nice build. You will love it.

P.S.- There is nothing to be afraid of with the internal routing. Mine shifts light and smooth every time.

I drilled out the little plastic piece down near the BB so the housing slides through.

    My 2012 Black RDO build

I finally managed to build it.. my first Niner. I came from a Specialized Epic Carbon Comp frame 26inch.

So far I really like it. I've yet to go out for a proper trail ride around my local loop. Only did a small ride this morning to get everything sorted.

    Build list is the following:
    2012 Jet 9 RDO size M
    Rockshox SID RCT3 120mm
Light-Bicycle Carbon 29er Wide wheelset with Novatec 811/812 hubs (wheelset built by them)
    XTR shadow plus rear der.
    XTR front der.
    XTR shifters
    XT 28/40 Crankset
    XT 11-36 cassette
XT brakes with 160mm rotors front and rear
SLX chain (will replace this once worn along with the cassette)
Specialized 2.1 Ground Control front / Renegade Control 1.95 rear
    3T Extendo LTD bars
    3T Doric team seatpost
    3T 90mm ARX team stem
    ESI chunky grips
    Specialized phenom gel seat
Crank Bros egg beater 3 pedals

i did a rough weigh (me on scales with bike minus me on scales) and i estimate the build to be 11.2kg as pictured

    3x front der

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, if it is then I don't know how to use the google machine appropriately. What front derailleur would I need to run for a 3x10 shimano drivetrain? It seems there are a lot of options for the 2x10 but not the 3. I promise to post pics as soon as she arrives. Switching from Jet9 alloy to the RDO. Couldn't pass on the sweet deals.

I hope so because that's the same derailleur I just ordered to go with my new Jet 9 RDO

Any issues installing the Parlee PF30 adapter?

I'm thinking of trying one with XTR cranks but they seem to market it as for road set-ups only. I believe external road BBs are something like 2mm wider than external MTB cups so I'm a little concerned.

    thanks

    Vegas Niner Specs

I have had my Jet9 RDO now for a year. It has been great. I have raced it a couple times and mainly just enjoyed it as a weekend warrior.

    Specs:
    M Frame
    I9 Hubs
    Stans Flow Rims
    IKON/Nobby Nic
    Race Face Turbine Stem
    Niner Carbon Bars
    ESI Racer Grips
    Taiwan Seat Post
    Tioga Spyder Saddle
    XT Pedals

The wheelset weights this bike down, however vegas trails are rough and can go from a decent cross country trail to a nasty down hill section quickly and I didn't want to have any issues with the wheels. I also weighed 30lbs more when I bought the bike. If I were to do it over I would have gone with the ArchEX rims.

Total Weight w/pedals is just under 26lbs

    RDO pics!

    Build Question:

I am about to build my Jet 9 RDO. Do I use grease or carbon paste on the integrated headset?

Same question on the press fit bottom bracket - grease or carbon paste?

    Thanks in advance.
