    Hi Guys,

i just bought a 2015 JET 9 RDO frame and looking now for the parts.

i will go for a 120 mm fork and was thinking on this one
    FOX 32 A Float 29" P-S 120 3Pos FIT4 15QR,
but it has a offset of 44mm, will that be okay or better stick to 51mm offset fork?

I dropped by the Niner garage sale and picked up a couple of things on Saturday. Guess I can join the club now.

Ha, me too. Thanks to a killer deal, I was able to pick up a brand new Niner Jet 9 Carbon frame last weekend to build. Luckily, I had an Air 9 to cannibalize, so all I had to do was have a shop swap the PF30 BB and voila, a brand new Jet 9 Carbon.

A little beefier than the standard XC setup, but all of my climbs are rewarded with fun descents, so I wanted something that was fun both ways. She sits at 28 lbs, I might lighten it up a little later after I get a handful of rides in.

Frame: Niner Jet 9 Carbon, Medium
    Fork: RS Revelation RCT3 130mm
    Shock: RS Monarch RT
    Wheels: Stans ZTR Flow EX
Drivetrain: Shimano XT (1x10 w/ One Up 40t, 30t front)
    Brakes: Shimano Deore
Tires: Hans Dampf 2.35" front, Geax Gato 2.2" rear

I've updated my bike several times since I originally built it up back in 2013 so I thought I'd put out an update.

Frame #4 August 2015 (yes I've had a few warranty replacements)
    Thomson Elite Dropper
    Thomson 90mm 0 degree stem
Thomson All Mountain riser bar 730mm wide
    OURY Lock-on grips
Shimano XT brakes with heat sink pads and ice tech rotors 180f/160r
    SRAM XX1 with 30t chainring
    Bontrager Evoke RL saddle
    Shimano XT pedals
Light Bicycle 30/24 rims laced up to White Industries MI6 hubs tubeless
    2016 Fox 34 120 FIT4 51mm offset
    Schwalbe 2.35" Nobby Nic front

I'm going to be doing the Trans Epic this spring and think it may be prudent to run a double up front. I am currently running a 1x10 with a 30/40 as my lowest gear. The FSA cranks I am using came with a 22/36 set of rings which I was going to go with but when I mounted up the XTR M980 front derailleur it was so far away from the big ring that I doubt it would have even worked. Is there a size requirement for the big ring in order to run a double up front, or is there a front derailleur that will mount up closer? thanks!

Thinking about one of the alloy jet 9's pricepoint is blowing out. I have an emd now and the rear tire clearance kinda sucks. Is there a consensus on the alloy jet's rear tire clearance? I'm not trying to fit dh tires or anything but will conti 2.4's or schwalbe 2.35's fit?

    Thanks

Can I ask y'all some questions about the newest Jet9 alloy? I had a 2011 version, and I loved how effecient it was and how fast it was to pedal, and how great it climbed but I hated how twitchy and unstable it was going downhill. Back then the headtube angle was really steep, I've noticed they've slackened it a bit and was curious to know the results? how do y'all like the new version? I've been riding a trail geometry type bike for a few years and love how it descends but it was a pig everywhere else. Being on that bike made me fall in love with the short stem/wide bar setup, has anyone tried a 50mm or less stem and some 750mm wide bars on a Jet9? How's that working out?

I have the 2012 version (the one after yours-the biggest difference is they changed the headset type) anyway, I put a 110 fork on mine and despite what I would have thought (bought the fork new on ebay at a huge discount from China direct but was listed as 100mm) it actualy improved the handling, made the steering more neutral, and while it was not bad in my opinion on downhills, it is even better with the 110 mm fork. I don't know about the newer ones. If you live anywhere close to Southern Indiana, you are welcome to ride mine.
I had the original version that Niner recalled, then I had the 2011 version which was the replacement and then they replaced that because the seatpost was cocked sideways with the one I had. So I have ridden the first 3 versions. The 2011 version was a huge improvement over the original. Between the 11 and 12, other than it takes a different headset I could not feel much difference but there could have been other improvements I am not aware of.

I pulled the trigger on a JET 9 build with a set of Stan's Arches from price point. White frame, black fox 32 performance float, arches, slx shifters, xt mechs, comes with an slx cassette but i have an xt I intend to swap it with, low end race face cock pit, deore brakes (which I'm a fan of, I have xt's on another bike and the difference between them is not enough for me to want to upgrade these off the bat)

I plan on putting a reverb on it quickly. The only thing I'm not sure about is the ride cranks. I know its a pf30 bb which I have never used but I think that the ride's only come in 24mm spindle so I'm guessing it will come with a bb adapter. If that is the case and it has a 24mm adapter on it I might swap a set of Deus cranks on it which are probably 200 grams lighter.

I'm not sure what headset it comes with or what rotors.

This is my first full squish bike so i'm pretty excited.

    More updates to the bike...
Fork was swapped out with another in my stable. 120 RS Pike.
    - This was an experiment to see how it would feel on this bike vs my hardtail... it is staying
I also added a KS dropper and replaced the saddle with a WTB Volt.

With this move, the only parts on this bike that are original... Praxxis BB conversion, Stem and Bars.

    - Frame warranty (rear shock included)
    - 2x10 replaced with 1x11
    - M785 brakes replaced with M8000 brakes.
    - Fox replaced by RockShox
    - Seatpost/Seat - Dropper/WTB
    - Easton EA70 replaced with Hope/Flow
    - Tires Gaex to Maxxis

Since I have a couple other bikes - only the seat & seatpost have gone to waste. Everything else trickled down...

I have a Jet9 RDO frame coming and tossing up between a pike 120 or 130mm fork. Is anyone running a 130mm? How does the longer travel compare to 120 (or even 100mm)? How does the bike handle and does it feel balanced with the 100mm rear?

Well, I ordered a white Jet 9 frame from Price Point as they seem to be selling out of stuff rather quickly. I was looking at the complete bikes, but the components used didn't do it for me (wire bead tires?).

I've got plenty of parts to build this thing up, so let's see how light and burly I can get this bike.

I joined the club! The deal on Pricepoint was too good to pass up. Transferred parts over from an Airborne Goblin EVO I bought last year. Converted to 1x10. Rode it around the house yesterday, and it's so sweet. Can't wait to get 'er dirty!

I picked up one of those Jet9 Carbon frames that Comp. Cyclist has for half price about a month ago and moved most of the parts over from my Salsa Spearfish. I had swapped out that drive train for XT 1 x 11 a few months ago, so I have a mostly new bike now. The only original parts left over from the Spearfish are the front wheel, handlebar, stem, and seatpost. I guess I should get a new front wheel one of these days as the green hub doesn't exactly match the bright orange frame.

Right, no angle set with a tapered head tube as I understand it.

You can get an angleset for a tapered HT as long as the HT takes a ZS style headset. If the bearing cups are molded into the frame then you are out of luck.

    Hi!

Im building 2016 Jet 9 RDO and bought 27,5+ fork to get better option in future. It will take almost everything and a2c is quite same. Anybody experienced rear clearance with 27.5+ tires in Jet RDO?

My new Jet 9. This is the 2016 model with the older geometry. It is still perfectly relevant. I'm loving this bike! These bikes are super fast and handle the technical's with ease.

I did a nice componentry buildup on it and she smokes!

This is my third Jet 9 and I've kept it relevant by altering the geometry somewhat. The 100mm Jet 9 RDO's HTA was too twitchy; a lot of people instinctively solved this by going for a 120mm fork. So we have the situation today where it has become a true trail bike. It still might be worth racing a 120mm bike, we'll see since that seems to be where XC is heading. I'll ride this one till it breaks and then see what's up!

I have seen noticeable improvement in results after altering the geometry of my bike. Dropped 1.5* with offset spacers on the rear shock. I made a custom carbon spacer for the Lefty and slackend about another *0.5 off the front while raising the bottom bracket back up.

There's a lot of other improvements to the bike like a Pushed shock; all adds up to 21.4lbs.

Really nice! I had the vanna white but always coveted that color scheme. Enjoy man!

I got this jet 9 rdo used off a Facebook bike sale group. This bike was alot of firsts for me. First niner, full suspension, and dropper post. Needless to say at 1600 I couldn't pass up this bike.

So I have had the newer model 2017 Jet for a year now. Don't like the EV Shock. Needs 40 pounds more air and can't seem to get the ride I want. Either its too stiff or when I lower the air to get the ride I want I am sagging so much I get pedal strikes. Has anybody replaced the EV shock with a shock similar to the last model Jet?

Did you end up going with the 130mm fork? What do you think? I have just picked up a 2014 Jet9 RDO frame and have a Fox 34 130 I am going to run on it. I reckon it will be awesome, but if its too much, will reduce it to 120mm.
