Looks like they slackened the headtube on the Jet9 .5˚

It's to account for the longer travel forks. Prior generation was built for 80mm (was 72) and 100mm (was 71) forks. This one is for 100mm (71) and 120mm (70). Other nice additions that were expected include the airformed tubing for lighter weight and the 100mm rear travel.

And they hit all the pains of an upgrade over the prior generation making it difficult for current owners of a JET 9 to swing the upgrade path and use current components to transfer over to a new frame...

    Direct Mount FD
    142x12 rear

In my own case, it would be cheaper for me to upgrade to the JET 9 Carbon.

Right. My observation was from a Jet 9 RDO owner where the head tube is .5˚ steeper. Seems Niner is moving slacker with each model.

Hmmm....I guess it depends on how you look at it.

The JET 9 was here before the JET 9 RDO. And the head tube angle is the same as it was before. 71 for the 100mm. So nothing has slackened in this model compared to the previous JET 9. The JET 9 RDO with a 120mm fork has the same HT angle as my 2009/10 RIP (70.5 with the 120mm fork).
