i am considering replacing my Jet 9 carbon with a Jet 9 alloy

The new Jet 9 alloy has sweet externally routed cables, 100 mm of travel, and looks sweet. I am disappointed that Niner went with the bogus direct mount front derailleur that lacks adjustability; however, you cannot have it all. I would spec with a clamp on top pull old school front derailleur instead of the tangled mess they use now.

    Anyone else considering the frame?

No. Why would you downgrade? You can run your carbon housing externally or use full housing internally which works fine too. What you have is lighter and probably rides better. You want to sell a nicer used bike at a loss and replace with a lesser bike which costs more? Does not make sense to me.

I kinda agree, with the OP. The direct mount FD sucks. I had to use 2mm shims at both mount holes, to get my FD to go into the big ring.

NOTE TO OP - Keep your Jet 9 RDO. The alloy one is nearly 1.5 pounds heavier.....

Do you have the correct bottom bracket spacers and BB shims in place properly? You adjusted the high limit screw properly? I have built two of them up and did not have the necessary spacers and shims in place on one of them and had a similar problem. Once solved the both shift perfectly.
